This morning I saw Allan Walsh's tweet about being in NYC. Walsh represents Ruslan Fedotenko.

On the road again! Just arrived in NYC on the red eye from LA. Great flight, slept the entire time. Wish they were all like this.

Walsh is meeting with Sather?

Fedotenko played for Torts in TB. Fedotenko wasn't a bad player in 08-09 when Pitt won the Cup but he was brutal last season.

I hope this doesn't materialize... No more forwards!

This is getting crazy we have way to many fowards. Why even bother its just another spot for a kid to lose if we sign this guy.

Unless we plan on fusing players into super-hybrids, I don't see the space for him, even if MZA fails to make the roster out of camp.

That being said, a camp invite hardly guarantees him a spot. See, e.g., Nedved, Petr.

If one of our kids cant beat out a vet that we are trying out, i.e., no other team wanted to sign him, doesn't that suggest to you that said kid maybe shouldn't be in the pros?

I don't envy the 08-09 coyotes, personally.

or unless Slats has another one of his magic trades ready to go that gets us one great player for several of our mediocre players so we actually have room for all these extra forwards to play in. yeah. uuuuuuuunlikely

While I always invite competition, I'm really tired of this "throw **** at the wall and see what sticks" philosophy.

On paper, everyone loves an additional influx of talent. Sather's continual gambles on waiver wire pickups, and reclamation projects doesn't show great insight and creativity, it just further magnifies his inabilities to build a well constructed team.

Let the youngsters fight for any remaining roster spots, hell, there might not be any left already, and they don't need an additional declining veteran clogging any semblance of a roster hole.

Don't see the problem with a competitve training camp. Especially with this group of forwards. He played some great clutch hockey under Torts so is seems likely he had much to do with the invite. He's the coach, and wants to take a look. No problem with that.

If he sucks, then thanks for coming. Now hit the bricks.

We don't want this guy and we certainly didn't give him a contract (yet).

If you can get him a Comrie like deal, it's a great deal. The guy is a performer when it matters (playoffs)

Only if a trade goes down, quite honestly.

I prefer 5 of our bottom 6 guys as currently assembled (Avery, Drury, Callahan, Prust, Kennedy) to him. If he replaces Boogaard or Boyle maybe but I don't see it without a trade.

Maybe if MZA doesnt make the team he has a shot

Frolov-Prospal-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Avery-Drury-Fedotenko
Boogaard-Kennedy-Prust.

But that requires Christensen and Boyle to be scratches which seems somewhat unlikely.

Player tryouts are a no-lose situation. If nothing else, they make players fight harder for roster spots.

yay. more forwards !! yippeee

and people wonder why some of us question whether there is a real plan for this organization. it sure seems like the plan is to scrape up the latest roadkill and attempt to add them to our roster ?

just because the player is desperate and/or willing to play for peanuts doesnt make him a good fit. then again, it sure seems like every (marginal and/or recently injured) forward looking for work is making a stop here with their "will skate for food" sign.

and i got crap from many here for wanting us to add a still talented, top 6 skill, pavol demitra to this roster for 1.5 mil for 1 year. i kept hearing hes too old and will block one of our young players.....

good god. save this team.

Same situation as last yr. (or yr before) with Nedved... it's just to push the other guys. If he really impresses then you have a problem. Otherwise he gets cut

robixsmash @stevezipay especially not enough 30-40 point max, not-top-line left wings.

NYfan1610 @stevezipay If Feds comes to camp on a tryout there definitely is a trade in the works with 17 LW's on the roster

Still, there is no downside to this. And ODC, I dont think most people were against a 1 year deal for Demitra, it was the 2 year 3 mil per that we were hearing that freaked most people.
