Thanks for the heads up, Serge.

5'9", 169? C'mon, Slats - we have enough midgets as it is.

I'd be really surprised if that's not just an AHL deal

If the Rangers signed him (and not Hartford), then it must be a 2 way deal, otherwise it would count against the summer cap.

Strange use of an NHL contract, but okay. The kid played well his draft year, then really regressed offensively the last two, just by looking at the stats.

But maybe his strong playoffs to finish his junior career was what caught Slats eye. Hartford needs some forwards so fine.

Did you look at the games played column while doing your assessment? (Though I admittedly am ignorant as to what sort of injuries etc may have been involved)

Wow, good signing. Tessier was a monster for Moncton in the playoffs.

He had a great 17 yo season but when he came back from his first camp with Colorado, he had a lot of troubles. He was okay by the end of the season but in the playoffs, he was an absolute beast. He has always been great in the playoffs. I don't understand why he's still listed at 169 lbs, he's built like a tank. He looks more like 5'9 180-190 lbs to me.

I really loved him when he was in Quebec. Great guy, great leader and hard worker. Happy for him that he got signed.

He has never been seriously injured.

Played 63/72 games as a rookie. Not uncommon for a rookie to not play every game.
Played 68/68 games as a 17 yo.
Played 64/68 games as a 18 yo. Missed 4 games while he was in Colorado.
Played 54/68 games as a 19 yo. Missed 2 games while he has in Colorado and got injured late in the season with the Wildcats and missed 10 games.

He plays center which is a spot where the organization is lacking in depth. I don't mind this at all. We dumped an extra contract in the Todd White deal with Rissmiller so this basically takes that spot over and I think its a great signing. Put the kid in HFD and see what he can do. If he can pot 10-15 goals and maybe add 15 assists in his first season that would be a good start for him.

It seems like the Rangers either bring in midgets or giants. There is no in between.

If Grach and Step dont make the big club I might have to travel over to Hartford for a few games this season.

Seems like we'll have a stocked team of potentials and also-rans.

Sure seems that way...makes me wish they played a little closer to home so I could catch more games.

Since the player is 20 years old,he needs to sign a 3 year ELC which are always 2 way contracts. Tessler signed a 1 year AHL deal. 18-21 year olds sign 3 year deals. 22-23 sign 2 year ELCs. 24 sign 1 year ELCs.

Thanks. Figured the 10 or whatever games were likely due to injury, but glad not a serious one.

All in all looking at the stats, I can't seem to find the statistically significant dropoff that another had mentioned. (09-10 was actually his second best season on points per game)

Sounds like a HFB road trip to me. My brother has been wanting to get to Hartford forever. I lived in Ct for a while, but my gf at the time didnt want to go. Silly girls.

I was going to say - who?

But nothing wrong with building prospect depth.

ill chime in on kelsey. i know a little bit about this kid.

first off this was a smart move.

this kid slid on draft day. his size i think caused him to slip but i can tell you for sure hes got talent. hes got great hands, a good accurate shot and hes can make plays with speed. right handed centerman shot is nice too.

size is his only issue.

this is a very smart contract here. well done.

He's coming off a really solid playoff performance. Can't complain; Probably replaces parenteau in hfd.

I always thought it would have been Clemenza.
