Two set lines; Patrik on the wing (not sure which wing); creative power play (thanks Oatsie); better face-off percentage (thanks Arnie and Oatsie); all-out offensive onslaught with the possibility of tons of garbage goals for Zach; forechecking and backchecking; defensemen playing within their skill-set and not be asked to do things they are incapable of doing; high energy; a structure that is not confining to the more explosive and/or creative forwards. In short designing play based on players' talents and skills.
Most important, accountability.
Oh, and a trip to the Finals, but I expect that every year -- so it's a given.
And in my fantasy world, career years for Zach, Kovy, Trav-Trav, Patty and one more. Yeah, I don't expect much.
As soon as I heard Oates was coming aboard I got excited about our powerplays chance of being scary good. Now having Kovy sure helps that as well. I expect a more open offencive style while still playing the hustle hard back checking devils hockey we all know.
Oh and the bigger up tempo style of offense we play the better our PP will be because we will draw more penalties by pressuring teams.
wasn't he grumpy in 2002 right after he got traded? And then in a good mood the next year?
He should be fine -- if he stays around -- JL is gone and the Pando stuff is straightened out.
That said, in my fantasy world -- if he's grumpy -- Jason nails him and on his butt and blames him for losing the best years of his life leaving the Devils for him.
