We're helping you out by taking on Salvador's contract, we wouldn't take him if a B level prospect like Palmieri wasn't offered. We're giving you Martinek because we have too many D. If you want you can have a cheaper Bruno Gervais instead of Martinek, which would free up roughly 2.2 mil instead of 1.4.

Salvador isn't really a salary dump. The guy played top-4 minutes on the Jennings trophy winning team.

The Ducks would gladly take him for a 3rd and wouldn't send any salary back.

I beg to differ:

If that were the case they wouldnt have traded wiesnewski to us (who is makin 3m) for a 3rd rd pick..

Wouldn't work for the Devils. This would only clear up 1.4 million in salary the 1st year and we would lose a decent prospect as well. On top of that, 2 other players would still have to be shipped out. Salvador will only be traded if no salary is coming back.

Why exactly? Wis makes more than Salvador, and Wis was becoming a real headache with his contracts. Salvador makes sense, but I'm not entirely sure he's what we need at this point.

I'd do Salvador for Martinek, or change the departing Devils prospect. I'd really rather not lose Palmieri in a salary dump. Especially because this one doesn't even save that much on the cap for us.

If we're going to trade Palmieri, it would be in a deal involving Rolston, or the like. You don't really need to sweeten up the pot with Salvador, he's a solid defenseman, who has a semi-overpaid contract. In my mind, Salvador and Andy Greene made up the Devils' top d-line last year, even though senile Jacques played Mottau and White ()

Also, I've read many places that Salvador will not be traded. IMO, the first d-man to go shuold be White, even though he has a NTC. Salvador and Greene should be another solid line next year, with Greene scoring at least 40 pts, and Salvador being the shut-down guy.

2.9/2yrs = 5.8m
wis:3.25/1yr = 3.25

Umm Salvador makes more here..... just saying, this is why I dont see the ducks taking a stab

Why would the ducks let Wiz walk for 1 year at 3.25 mil and take on Salvadors contact for a 3rd??

Wis thinks he is worth 4 mil... which he isnt even close too. he did not want to be in anaheim and i would much rather have some veterans to mentor our young guys coming up like sutton.

because having him for 2 years would be much better then having wis for 1 year and then go through another contract talk where he overvalues himself.

I would give a 4th for salvador probably not a 3rd.
