Hockeyfest 2010 - Saturday, September 11th, 2010 TSC

Mark your calendars, Hockeyfest 2010 will take place on Saturday, September 11th at Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. Complete details and pricing will be forthcoming from the Kings at a later date.

Nice to see they are doing this again... I really enjoyed last year's event at the Nokia theater. Surprised they are moving it to TSC though.

I spoke to one of the AEG guys last year and they said they were hoping to put it in the new hotel meeting rooms this year. Well that didn't happen so maybe the hotel was booked or didn't want a bunch of smelly hockey fans in their lobbies. There is not a lot of parking at Toyota SC and unless the Lakers let them use the basketball courts there is not a lot of open floor space.

And only one day, kind of a bummer as well.

I hear there is going to be a Rob Blake dunk tank this year.

Cant imagine how they are going to fit all the people in and where they would have the forums. Not looking forward to that quite honestly. Don't understand why they changed it.

Anyone know what the head count of fans was in last year's event? I am going to guess that similar to the previous meeting with the GM events, the forums will likely be held on the roller rink.

I'm guessing the team lost money from last year's Hockeyfest and want to downscale it.

I thought last year was pretty good, but I was hoping for more this year. It appears they are going with less. Maybe they will put a tent in the parking lot and have the speakers in the ice area. They can cover the ice for events and the bleachers would provide seating.
My wife thinks that Sept 11 should be a holiday so she is upset with the date.

I forgot they had a roller rink as well.
Still wish it was going to be bigger than last year.

I haven't followed Tip-A-King since I moved to San Diego, but one year (in the 00's) they had it at TSC. It was a little odd, but everyone fit room wise. If I remember correctly, they did use the basketball area.

I might check this out this Sat, how does it work with autographs...do you have to bring your own cards, jerseys or glossy pics of the players...?

Well this year is smaller than last year. I am sure they will be selling stuff: pucks, shirts, clearance junk from the team store etc. The players do not have pics at the ready.

New Kings D Willie Mitchell wore 8, which Doughty has. Doughty offered to give it up. Mitchell said no thanks, adding, 'Keep rocking it."
How nice of Drew.

That's pretty impressive that Drew would do that. I am glad that Mitchell declined, that would have pissed off thousands of Kings fans with Doughty jerseys

That's exactly what I was thinking half-way through that sentence.

Was anything said of the Kovalchuk situation or any names dropped of prospects the team expects to challenge for a roster spot this season?

Not much on the Kovy thing. DL said there were some things they liked about him and some things they didn't and he left it at that.

He didn't mention anything on the prospects that will likely challenge for a spot, but it's widely assumed that Hickey, Clifford, Schenn, Muzzin, Fransson, Bernier, Loktionov will get long looks
