Don't get me wrong. I like the preds and I think they're a great club that doesn't get enough credit sometimes. I just thought that comparison was funny, but then you said that he's not the same player as pavel datsyuk, so I was like oh ok then.

Damn, several of our good prospects aren't dressing. Repik, Ellerby, Santorelli, and Birkholz are all omitted. Idk why they did that.

Kuli looked very good this morning. More speed and very nice on his skates. He looks much more comfortable and confident.

Bitz looked good. He should stay on the 3rd line.

16 guys that also included Allen, Dvo, Weiss, Reasoner, Garrison, Reino, Matthias, KMac, Weaver, Wideman, and I think Bernier.

Allen was skating hard and fast (for him) so it looks like the surgery after the season worked (he had the knee cleaned up).

Weiss was playing "quietly", not like last year at this time when he was flying around with Booth and Horton.

Santorelli isn't really "good" and definitely isn't a prospect...he's got 3 or 4 years of AHL experience. All of Nashville's guys are no more than 1 year of AHL experience...even then, it's only Blum and Pickard.

It's unfortunately something the Tennessean does when you copy something out of their blogs to discourage plaugarism. They actually don't show up until you hit "submit", therefore unless you use the preview option or go back and edit your post...they show up with no rhyme or reason...

NCAA players don't usually participate in training camps due to their academic schedule having begun.

The Predators also have several prospects not participating for that reason. Additionally prospects in Europe also commonly don't participate in camp due to their Euro league seasons having begun.

Santorelli is a fourth year pro and Repik and Ellerby are probably considered too established in Florida's lineup to participate in the event. Simiarly, the Preds aren't sending Colin Wilson...

I haven't seen Santorelli play at all, I'm just going off of his prospect ranking in the Preds system when he was there and his AHL numbers. He has a few years of AHL experience, but that still qualifies him as a prospect. Usually unless a guy plays significant games in the NHL or is really old like over 25, he's still classified as a prospect. The Panthers had Matthias at last year's rookie camp and he had a year of AHL experience and about 40 NHL games under his belt. But I guess they changed things up this year. Repik and Ellerby each have way less NHL games than that, and Birkholz is still in junior hockey. I just wanted them to ice the best team possible so I was just disappointed.

Colin Wilson I can understand because he has a full season of NHL action under his belt already and is clearly an NHL regular at this point. That would be like the Panthers having Kulikov in rookie camp, pointless. Ellerby and Repik are hardly established though.

Here is a article on Mike Vaskivuo that I found. Turns out he's a Florida boy! (originally Finnish) He was invited to camp and could be a promising player for Rochester. The site is in Finnish so I had to translate with google chrome. It reads a little funny translated though...e.g., "Florida panther leopards".

I feel bad for Weiss. After all these years of suckage he must be really frustrated.
But thanks for the updates.

I played some pickup with him a year ago. He's solid. Not sure if he would be effective in the NHL, but possibly the AHL.

And LOL at "Florida panther leopards". Do we need two jungle cats now in order to meet a certain degree of intimidation? lol

Cool man, he might be a good fit for the Amerks, or the Cyclones?

Another invitee that looks promising is Alain Berger. He put up decent numbers last year with the Generals, and he's a big kid.

Yes, finnish is a weird ugly language. It means Professional Hockey Player. No1 would really write it like that they would just say Ammattilaiseksi

Alain Berger is a Swiss that couldn't participate to the WCJ due to a broken leg. He is tall, scores and fights.

Last year in the OHL, in spite of his broken leg, had decent numbers. (they came down after his injury !)

He was playing for SC Bern before leaving for North America and is registered as a Swedish player for god knows what reason !! (probably a typo)

One of my favourite swiss rookies.
