Absolutely. The rule is stupid, particularly as it applies in the end zone. That was a TD. However, as one of my Lions fan friends said, it's kinda nice that they lost by being screwed by the rules rather than just plain sucking.

I'm kind of happy Mcnabb got a win in his first game, but didn't go out there styling all over the Cowboys (he would have been feeling himself a little too much, because that's just how he is).

A coach who lets him meddle. As opposed to, say, Parcells.

Has anyone ever done fantasy hockey? I signed up for a yahoo league with some of my buddies and I'm scared ****less. Never done a fantasy league before, and I'm probably gonna lose all my monies.

I'm in one every year with a group of friends on Yahoo. We each draft a team (lots of swearing goes on during the live draft!), and then it's just a matter of looking daily/weekly to set your lineups.

I was a bit intimidated at first, but it's really easy. We don't play for money, just bragging rights and the ability to rip on your opponents.

just got offered Jason Pominville and Ondrej Pavelec for Ryan Kesler in a salary cap keeper league. He orginally asked for Mike Richards. really cant make up my mind on this one. I already have Richards,Kopitar,Eberle,Kadri and Stoa at center. 16 team league with the NHL salary cap. I am about 2 million under. Have Giguere,Chris Mason and Boucher as my goalies. I am prepared to cut Boucher if I do the deal.
Last year I had Nabokov and Theodore and we all know what happened there.

My friend running it wants a $40 buy in. 1st, 2nd, and he said maybe 3rd pays out, as well as bragging rights. Of course this friend is also a Rangers fan, as is his other friend, and there's several Debbies fans in on this too. It's up to me and one other Flyers fan to represent.

Do us proud! Ours has Devils, Sabres, Canucks, Leafs, Habs, Boston fans, and two Flyers fans.

I generally suck (worst luck in the world with the draft order) but it's still fun.

i forgot to make a draft list last year for hockey. i actually ended up finishing 3rd in the league because i managed to do a good job grabbing stopgaps as the season went on. I think about half the NHL ended up cycling through my team. then every single person choked during the playoffs and my team only produced 1/3 of their usual output, and i was knocked out in the first damned round.

edit: oh, and the two superstars i got in the draft: ****ing jokinen and savard.

A former Harvard hockey player wants to buy the Hooters casino in Las Vegas. One of the obstacles is the NHL's gaming policy.

http://www.nypost.com/f/print/news/b...Q37GMf6v2I8N5K

Quote:
Hedge fund bigwig Phil Falcone is bucking the odds in his bet to be the new owner of Hooters Casino Hotel, the Las Vegas venture launched in 2006 by founders of the popular restaurant chain.

Falcone, who runs the $8 billion New York hedge fund Harbinger Capital Management, bought the casino's troubled $130 million senior loan, putting him in a prime ownership position for when the casino seeks bankruptcy protection, sources tell The Post.

But there's a glitch: Falcone isn't allowed to own the casino.

The investment guru and avowed hockey nut -- who skated for Harvard in college -- made a mint shorting toxic mortgages in 2007 and used a small slice of that fortune to buy a 40 percent stake in the NHL's Minnesota Wild.

Now Falcone faces this blind-side hit: The NHL restricts owners from owning a casino with a sports book, and Hooters operates a sports book.

Falcone is permitted to own the company's debt, which he picked up on the cheap over the last year. But he's barred from owning an equity stake in such a concern, which is exactly what he will end up with when he moves to collect on the monies owed him by forcing the casino into a bankruptcy Court reorganization.

The casino, with gambling revenues eroding since the recession (they are down 24 percent in the first quarter compared to the previous year) has missed three straight semi-annual debt payments of $5.7 million beginning in April 2009.

What's more, the operation is likely to miss next month's payment as well as its credit facility, which is stretched tighter than a T-shirt on a Hooters waitress.

In the first quarter, the casino, which has 620 slot machines and 24 table games, managed a loss of $3.9 million on $11.3 million in revenue.

I have been for a while now and I like it. Even though I watch lots of other games, it gives you more of a reason to watch and get into them. I'm also the only Flyers fan in it... lol.

That's beyond farcical considering what Chicago and Detroit have gotten away with, the Hossa contract is nearly as bad on its own.

Hossa deal is close, but the 1st Kovalchuk deal was worse, and the NHL basically waited until they had a slam dunk win at arbitration, and now they got their new rules and they bring the hammer down on the Devils to end it.

Yeah, but it's BS that the Hawks do 85% of what the Devils did and face no consequences and the Devils lose 2 high picks and 3 mill (not insignificant for that team).

By the rules of the CBA the Devils even got off lucky. The fine should be deducted from the salary cap but the NHL decided to not enforce that part.

Meh. The Hawks were doing 74 in a 65 and the Devils were doing 77 and got nailed.

That is an awesome analogy. Precisely the way I feel about it.
