Tornado Warning

In Brooklyn+Queens?

I thought the end of the world wasn't coming until 2012?

Got a text from a friend riding the LIRR about half an hour or so ago, apparently they shut down service because of a fallen tree by the Woodside stop. Word is that there was a touch down there? Could be mistaken.

There was definitely some sort of tornado here in Gramercy.

The sky turned a greenish color, and there were huge pellets of hail. When it hit my window, it sounded like glass breaking. The rain came down in sheets and there was almost zero visibility.

Haven't experienced extreme weather like this in awhile. Hope everyone in the metro area is OK.

Tornado warning for almost all of Queens. Fresh Meadows I can confirm a touchdown, no electricity in Bayside, Douglaston the same. Horrible winds....sounded like a train coming through. Chimney damage. This is one for the books for our area. HOPE EVERYONE IS SAFE.

My back windows shattered. Trees all over the place in the street. Block is impassable. Debris from other blocks came thru as well.

This is a VERY RARE AND HISTORIC EVENT for the Queens area.

Got some lights out by me in Commack. Got really dark for a while with some good lightning strikes, but didn't see any torando's touchdown.

Wow, we got some intense lightning, thunder and rain here but i'm pretty sure it wasn't as bad here as it was in Queens.

Hope everyone's alright.

I'll post up some pictures from the Brooklyn / Queens area soon. Greenpoint [Brooklyn] didn't get hit too hard. However, where my family lives in Ridgewood and Middle Village, at least 20 trees down. Tornados did roll through, chairs in mid air, etc. Crazy stuff...

Sorry to invade your board but:
I was in Queens on the LIE when the storm stuck (b/t exits 23 and 24). Storm was coming from behind me, when it caught up immediately got real dark, started to downpour something fierce, visibility at zero, and some nice size pieces of hail. Traffic stopped. When it let up a few minutes later, about 500' ahead of me was a line of damage going right across the LIE.
If it wasn't a tornado, I have no clue what the hell it was. I just wish I wasn't driving so I could've taken pictures.

Hit long island pretty hard. I was walking back from class when the rain and wind picked up. I was drenched like you wouldn't believe. Couldn't see 2 feet in front of me most of the way. Was pretty terrifying considering all the tree's I was walking under

I wish something like this would go over my condo.

I live on the water so I'd just get weak ass water spouts probably. But this was just sick. Like what you said, the ending is nuts.
