David Fischer released...again

I thought it deserved its own thread.....for now. For whoever likes to follow ex-habs but especially him 'cause of how he was followed all these years, David Fischer, who got a tryout at the Vancouver rookie camp, was released after the tournament they played that ended today.

I was talking to some 'Nucks fans who came away really unimpressed by him.....as we all were. We'll see what's coming next for Top Titty....

I don't get how bad our scouting is to take this guy when everyone had him as a joke of a player, I remember them talking about on TSN on how he should fall off, and what do we do, we pick him...

Good to hear I was right since 2006 : this guy will never make the NHL. Glad we at least have a second round pick next year for not signing him.

I would assume that would mean he wasn't good enough to make their farm team, the Manitoba Moose? Or was his tryout about something else?

turned out to be a pretty brutal pick. I even picked him in my keeper league draft

I can't believe he actually turned down the first contract from Montreal. Lucky for Montreal he did at least they get a 2nd rounder.

I watched every Canucks rookie game except todays (I admit I slept through it) and Fischer did everything possible to make us wonder how the hell this guy was a first round pick. He didn't standout in anyway except when he screwed up. I'm glad you guys took the 2nd and ran, this guy has no future in professional hockey.

Bust.

I don't want to be "that" guy, but I bet Timmins greatly regrets not taking a bigger "gamble" at the time in a guy like Giroux, who by all counts should develop into a legitimate first-liner.

Why Fischer was picked, I'll never fully understand.

I didn't like the pick at all when I heard them saying that they don't expect him to play in the NHL anytime for another 3-4 years (in 2006) and that he was a long term project. I wouldn't take a that huge gamble with a 20th overall pick. Looks like 2006 will be a very bad draft year for the Habs.

I'm disappointed that Fischer didn't pan out. His development wasn't the smoothest one though. Losing your mother and battling through illness and injuries will take a toll on you.

I think that Timmins decided to draft by need rather than BPA and that came back to haunt him. If you think back, in 2006 our D prospects weren't anything to write home about (Paquet, Yemelin, Gleed, Dulac-Lemelin just to name a few) so he opted for the 6'4 defenseman with good skating and some offensive upside instead of the 5'10 forward.

Who could have predicted that he'd draft PK Subban next season?

How Timmins can be anything but a scout, rather than our head scout, is beyond me.

Two letters:

PK.

Unfortunately his first round magic hasn't been as good as we wouldve hoped, although I get a really good vibe off Leblanc/Tinordi.. I really get the feeling Gauthier may have had his hands in those picks a little.

Well if anything, this guy gave me a line that I still use to this day when I play NHL on PS3.

Hate point out you only joined in July of this year and have 35 posts...so you didn't tell us so!

If only we could go back and re-draft every draft, we would be the best every year with about 50 Cups...

Wow it always makes me smile that when you post about how terrible our drafting is you get all the clowns on you likes wolves on a lame doe but when the truth is finally staring them in the face they act like they knew it all along and were right there beside you.

Ya timmons has been a joke for a long time and the team has suffered greatly for it. People even wanted this clown as our GM! LMFAO
