Outside of goalies (which is something almost inconceivable), we have a number of 3rd and 4th liners in the system but, the problem is, these guys are readily available most offseasons or through trades. A lack of top-end talent is going to start to hurt, especially when we look for cheap alternatives to free agents in the coming years for the top 2 lines.

There's an interview with Mike Testwuide post-game on the Flyers main page. All I can say from that is very well spoken and doesn't shy away from the cameras. If hockey doesn't pan out, he's got a future as an analyst.

Our prospect pool isn't as bad as previously speculated?

Shocker eh?

Wait, so even our own resident prospect guru buys into this one game.

Wow.

EDIT: I think I had a dream about Bobrovsky last night.

We have a couple of good goalie prospects, some longshot defensemen, and a million bottom 6 forwards + Wildcard in Maroon

We dont really have a a good prospect pool, but I doubt it is the worst

In your opinion it isnt as bad. Time will tell and I bet time will prove how wrong you are when all is said and done. Keep the faith though, Maroon will make it.

It was more a comment about what was said.

That's why I quoted it.

How, if I believed it all along, am I buying into "one game"?

Besides, it's not like our prospect pool has anything special unless Bobrovsky and/or Eriksson turn into something. The rest of the players are mediocre complimentary players at best, but having as many of them as we have is only a plus.

Still, we definitely need some stronger quality in there.

Time will prove me wrong?

I'd like to know what exactly the qualifications are for getting "proven wrong."

It's pretty shady to make a bet without any real specifications for how I win or lose. I guarantee I win if you see the prospect pool like I do.

Some people around here seem to think that if you don't have 7 out of every 10 players making it to the NHL, you've failed. It's ridiculous how high some of your standards are.

You will rarely if ever have 7 out of 10 prospects make it, that is foolish to think otherwise. If you have 2 guys from each draft become nhl regular players that is a successful draft. You will be proven wrong as you seem to think Maroon, Nodl, Marshall, Gustfson, testicles, the finnish dman, both goalies, and i may be missing a player or 2 will all be nhl players(at least that is my take, correct me if i am wrong). They wont. I dont see the prospect pool like you do at all.

OK so I'm getting this about 4th hand (a buddy who's buddy's coworker was at the game) so take it with a grain of salt (and the perspective of a caps fan) but apparently "the dude who wore the C" was our best player. I think from the highlites it look like Bourdon was captain. He also said that our first goalie (Bob) is the only reason it wasn't a blowout and our second goalie (Morrison) sucked and let even more past him than the score indicated.

which is why we should be keeping our draft picks. including our 2nds which we have given away like candy over the years.
I am still a bit confused if we have our 3rd and Pittsburghs 3rd in 11 or just Pittsburghs, I thought that 3rd was conditional on the Flyers winning the Cup.

Wasn't the pick from Pittsburgh for the rights to negotiate with Hamhuis?

Or at a cost of Ryan Parent. However a 3rd for Parent isn't terrible given Parents poor play and the obvious fact that the Flyers didn't trust him and seemed to have given up on him.

Given the facts that Parent was the definition of expendable, Homer clearly had no intentions of retaining Parent, and that losing Parent ended up with us taking a 3rd from a rival for free, I'm fine with losing Parent.

Our 2011 3rd is indeed conditional on winning the Cup this year.

I thought so, yet there are some who think we dont have it. so we have 2 3rds and 2 4ths in the 11 draft. ammo to move up into the 2nd round.
naaaa its the Flyers we dont do that

I'm not getting it.

Bob let in 3 goals in 2 periods against non-AHL competition, but everyone is saying he did well. This doesn't jive with everyone saying our skaters played well too.

I am lost.
