She's awesome.

Actually, I don't have the first clue who she is, but I couldn't let that slide...

Heh, I'm actually not a huge fan of the guy, probably my 6th or 7th favorite guy on the team, but some of the criticism he (and Richards sometimes) gets is ridiculous.

Article related to the new jerseys:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=537840

Quote:
VOORHEES, N.J. -- Only the Philadelphia Flyers could kick off the season with a ceremonial slash.

But that's what Flyers coach Peter Laviolette, GM Paul Holmgren, President Peter Luukko and a few other dignitaries did to open training camp Friday at Flyers Skate Zone, using hockey sticks to cut a black and orange ribbon in front of a crowd of about 200.

The day also was designed to introduce the club's new road jersey, which is identical to the one the Flyers wore at last season's Winter Classic.

"The reason we made the move was the overwhelming response to it from the fans when we wore it for the Winter Classic," Flyers Senior Vice President of Business Operations Shawn Tilger told NHL.com. "Everyone loved it. It was more, 'Why not listen to the fans'"

The jersey is white with an orange swirl down each sleeve and an orange band around the waist. On the back, the white letters are laid on a black nameplate and the numbers on the back are orange with a black outline. The only thing missing from Jan. 1 in Boston is the Winter Classic patch.

Flyers captain Mike Richards was on hand to model the jersey, marking the first time he's appeared publicly since the end of the Stanley Cup Final.

"It's nice to get back into the swing of things," Richards said. "Things like this means you're ramping up toward the season. It's nice to be back."

Bill Meltzer has a few notes...

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bill-...Opens/45/30226

Quote:
Peter Laviolette has a team meeting scheduled for early this evening in which he will discuss training camp goals and expectations. He will be keeping most of the same system as last season, with a few new elements now that he has a full season to implement them. The number one expectation, as Richards noted, is that players focus on conditioning because he intends to maintain an aggressive version of the left-wing lock.

Because people only get in shape in Voorhees, NJ. Nowhere else.

Anyone heading to the pre-season game next Saturday in Minnesota? I'll be there, row 3 behind the Flyers bench. I know it is only pre-season but it will most likely be the only game I see in person this year. I'm fired up! Hopefully get a few vets in the line-up and also maybe get to see Bob in net.

Just watched the end of game 5 vs. the Habs on the NHL network... let's get this season going!

Broadstreet hockey had an interview with her.

When I left TSN I went I actually went back to my home town of Ottawa. I wasn't a big fan of Toronto to be honest with you. It's kind of an impersonal city. It was sort of like a mini New York. I wasn't a huge fan, not to mention, you know, my schedule didn't allow me to have much of a life.

4 hours is great! I have about 7 hours... should be much better than the drive last Feb, returning from that game was sketchy. Tons of blowing snow and cars/trucks in the ditches.

Chaput is going to be a player. He's going to be a Ryan Kesler type player. He should have a monster year in the Q this year and remember that he only turned 18 back in April of this year, so if things go accordingly, he might play an extra year in the Q and have time to really round his game into shape.

What I liked was that he was all over the ice. The announcers said his name a ton of times. His shooting was alright but thats to be expected. He got in the right position but hit the other team alot with his shot. Pither also looked to have a decent game. Made a few dangles around people and set up his teammates a good amount of times. He should have a good AHL year.

I like him and the tyler kid. Will be interesting to see how they play in the phantoms camp.

I didn't watch too carefully, but Ricard Blidstrand looked better than I thought he would do in his first game in NA.

Other than that, does anyone believe that Tye McGinn can play on the Phantoms this year? I like what little I've seen from him so far, and he'd be an overager if he went back to juniors.

I also agree that Chaput was good, especially if you consider he's an 18-yo kid playing against some older guys. Hopefully we found a gem there.

Something in Bourdon seems to have clicked.

Right after I bounced him from a C to a D grade.

Testwuide looks good. Bobrovsky looks good. Pither looks good.

Boucher looks better than Leighton.
