This is more of a statement of how pathetic previous ownership was imo. I can't believe they had a zamboni from freakin 1987. I'm happy that you guys have decent ownership now.

Davidson wasn't so bad, and he was post 87' ownership.
Its nice to see better equipment in though, not just because its new and shiny, but because of the challenge of maintaining a nice ice surface in this environment.
I saw the new boards today, they are pretty nice... the corners/edges felt great and I wouldnt see how someone could get some nasty stitches there. Also, you cant put your feet right on the boards that were right on the ice... if you get what I mean. If you were ever in the front row, you would have the little extra leg room (like 2 inches really only for your feet), well thats not there anymore. It's nice its gone there because I cut my knees on the metal pieces from the boards, I hated that the inside was exposed.

The main thing in making great ice is the ice plant/ refrigeration sytem and the air conditioning which lowers the humidity in the building. The Zamboni is a very small part of the system.

The zamboni is just as important as the HVAC system here, and I include the edger here too. Ice patches in the corner get to be a consistent problem at any rink in Florida. Sum of parts kind of thing.
Our glorified shovels were old and we didn't have an edger.
hehe, gotta have a good shovel. Reminds me of my days spent as a kid shovelling snow off the lake for hours, only to have all the neighborhood kids show up to play 10 seconds after I had it shovelled!!
Good luck to James Wright and the rest of your boys this year.

I don't follow the Isles too closely anymore, living in Vancouver and big time WHL fan. Especially the Giants. Followed Meszaros, Wright, Lucic and even Connoly from PG Cougars.
Got down to TBay to see some games over the last two winters, really enjoyed my time there and in the Keys and of course the Bucs games.

You're going to see another year of Connolly in Prince George at least! Hopefully he can impress, and stay healthy.
The Zamboni 545 models (which are coming to Tampa for the price of nearly $100,000 each) are known to produce some of the best ice sheets for hockey in the world. The new machines will create ice surfaces in the St. Pete Times Forum, using computer-generated models compensating for external factors such as heat and humidity.
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that it will hold a parade through the streets of Tampa on Tuesday, September 28, to showcase the team’s two new Zambonis.
Quote:
The caravan is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. from the St. Pete Times Forum compound and will travel from Brorein Street to Morgan before heading down Kennedy Boulevard. From there, the parade will travel through Jackson Street before looping around back to Morgan until its conclusion on Channelside Drive.
