I'll share this with you since we are all Flyers fans, and because I hope everyone loves their moms.
If you don't know by now, I go to school in Arizona, with the rest of family still living in NJ. On November 18th, the Tampa Bay Lightning will play the Flyers in Philly. My mom's favorite hockey player is, was, and will likely continue to be Simon Gagne.
Her birthday is October 18th. I cannot come home in October (mid terms + thesis, ftl). However, in mid-November is the annual ASC conference (gettin' all criminological!) in San Fran. Because of this, my classes are canceled. So I hatched a plan. I bought Flyers tickets, I bought her a SG jersey (Flyers, black, natch)
I fly to San Fran on Nov. 16th. Attend my workshop I need to go to.
Stay overnight. Fly to Philly the following afternoon. I hide out all day somewhere. Get my sister three of the four tickets. They leave for the game.
Dad swings by to get me from undisclosed location. We arrive later than mom and sis. Dad goes and sits with them. We get the usher or some other type person to get my mom to come into the hallway between the seats and the concourse. And there I am standing, holding her jersey, as her belated birthday gift.
This is two months away, and the wheels are in motion. I cannot tell you how excited I am. She thinks I'll be at the conference and cannot come home until Christmas. I just cannot wait to see her face.
That movie was great. And so was Eastwood. He is bad ass in everything he does.
The girl coming back beat the hell up had my girlfriend just bawling her eyes out. I had to pause the movie, she really doesn't get emotional often. I had to tell her Eastwood's going to do his thing, and it calmed her down. She loved it though, and she doesn't really watch/like many movies.
