It got a little scary there for a second in the 8th, but a win is a win.

Never a doubt.

Just in case no one is aware, barring a Metsian collapse, the Phillies are going to finish with their best record since '93. Somehow. Remember, this team was 48-46 on July 21st. Since then: 40-15. Wow.

They could beat that record if they stay hot. The one bad thing about the '93 Phils is that they were pretty bad the second half of the season. They were playing .700 ball through June, but ended up with a .599 winning percentage. I think they were 45-17 to start the season, and 53-28 at the halfway mark. I distinctly remember being sad they fell short of a .600+ season.

EDIT: I guess they'd have to finish the season 11-3 to do better, but that isn't impossible.

This team's 2nd half surges are just ridiculous, particularly as they put up that 40-15 mark without Howard/Utley for a decent period of time.

I've pretty much given up trying to understand it, the offense just swoons in June/July/August, but we eek out some games and then they just turn on the jets in September.

I don't even think we can talk about swoons this year... the injuries have been absurd. And, as of today, the Phils have a decent shot at holding the best record in baseball.

100 wins is still possible. Just need to go 12-1.

I'm kinda worried about tonight with Maya going for the Nats. He's sucked his first two turns out but the lineup hasn't seen him, and we all know that game.

Yeah that's a decent point, It's pretty amazing these guys will get 95 wins if they go 7-6 the rest of the way.

Yeah, it's a "who knows" thing, but, at the same time, they've gotten their 2 of 3 already, so it's bonus time. If you just keep taking series after series, then you got no concerns.

This is September Phillies. They don't play by those earlier season rules.

Holy ****ing ****. I stopped listening when Romero gave up the run when I was driving home from work. Didn't bother putting it back on when I got home.

Holy ****ing ****. I'm an *******.

That was the first clutch hit I can remember from Werth since he cleared the bases in the top of the 9th in San Francisco. This team is on a roll.

Bah, I missed the game because of work. We've got TVs but the Eagles were on...apparently week 2 of the regular season in the NFL featuring two teams who lost their starting quarterbacks in week one trumps the heat of a divisional title race in baseball.

Sometimes, I hate this area...

edit: My point was initially meant to be how cool it is listening to Franzke's calls.

Hey guys, I know I've got a post above, but I wanted to make this separate. (I don't know if I can do this, but I will and the mods can say otherwise if need be). My brother is a graphic designer and illustrator, and has his own blog and website right now.

We've been Phillies fans for as long as we can remember, and even before that. He did a series of illustrations called "A Phillie A Day," and I just received a print of them all together (they also made it to the 700 level or the fightins, I can't remember which). You can download one at the link below, and check out each drawing individually at the link below that. I figured some of you would like this (other parts of the blog are worth checking out, too), and I know he'd appreciate just getting some hits from fans like us.
