I'll add to my Ozolinsh post...

judging by what others are saying, I guess these guys count too, and I'll throw in some others that I thought of. Ozo was just my first pick.

Prucha, Tyutin, Rachunek, Ulf, Kasparaitis

Theo Fleury - One of my favourite players of all time.

Derek Morris - Watching his pointman pass after almost a full season of comedy with Redden and Rozsival on the point almost made a tear in my eye. I think he was solid here.

Christian Bäckman - His awkwardness in his first couple of games was exagerrated, a majority of his penalties were ridiculous (thanks refs) and he made up for it with the most timely pinches I've ever seen on this team since the lockout.

Guys answering Sjöström, Bure, etc... they were not unpopular.

Before the lockout when we played run and gun and everyone else trapped our D's were really exposed and nobody really was given any chance of playing well. People blamed it on pressure and rangeritis and what not, but facts are that guys like Sylvian Lefebvre, Quintal and co got to support they needed on other teams to be solid top 4 D's, something NY couldn't give to them.

During this era I actually though Vladimir Malakhov and Bobo Mironov played, for long stretches, very good hockey for us.

In what universe were Prucha and Tyutin unpopular?

Good point. I was just coming back to say Malakhov, too. Very unpopular guy for the reason you mention, but I always had the impression that he was a better athlete than he seemed.

I was a huge fan of Malakhov, even have his jersey and gloves.

He would have huge games and then it looked like he was sleeping the next game. We all wanted the huge games every night but he just couldn't do it...

I don't know if I ever saw a defenseman with better skills than Malakov. He was that good. He had the full package, and could have gone down as the best ever...if only he had the killer instinct. Imagine Vladdy with Ryan Callahans heart?

Seriously, Malakov was among the best skaters I have ever seen play the game. Long and rangy, but he could move effortlessly. Very smoothe, and his stick handling was way above average. But...He wasen't weak in the other areas. His shot from the point was booming, and the guy could hit the mark too. So usually when you have a guy that is so talented in certain areas he is weak in others, like the physical department. But...Malakov when he wanted to be was a monster! He had the size to crush people too. Even was good with his fists when he had to be.

At the end of the day though, it was plain and simple unwillingness to compete on a nightly basis for him. That was the only hole in his game.

That one that led to a goal maybe... 30 seconds later on an unrelated play where Avery left his man alone? Yeah, I remember that one.

Or the one where he took Ovechkin almost completely out of the play, but Lundqvist let in AO's weak one handed shot, and that was Rozy's fault too? I remember that one as well.

LOL. I remember Pear Juice!

Malik, if for nothing else than the shootout winner vs the Caps. I was at the game and didn't realize what he'd done until I saw the replay on the Garden Vision. That was a sick goal.

I like Rozsival, but I for one blamed the both of them for that travesty.

Rozy and Nedved big time. Especially Nedved when he came in that one season and just played so well with so much effort.

Malik as well to a smaller degree. He simply was not that bad a player.

Nedved & Hlavac - Liked both, never cared as much for Dvorak.

Morris - Always wanted him on this team. He, not Antropov, was the biggest reason we made the playoffs down the stretch. Underrated player.

Nieminen - Didn't even care how he played. His television appearances were gold.

Lundmark - Still think the Rangers ruined his career, even if he was never going to reach the lofty expectations set for him.

Russ Courtnall - Wish he woulda stuck around more.

Daniel Goneau - He had some nice games during a couple of call-ups.

Vladimir Vorobiev - Ditto.

This might be the most disturbing post in the thread. How could you possibly like either of those guys? Not counting enforcers or goons, these are two of the dumbest players I've ever seen in the NHL. They were like turnovers/bad penalties/goals against just waiting to happen. Never has the phrase "zero hockey sense" been so true as in either of their cases.
wooow Vladimir Vorobiev, there's a blast from the past. Remember him showing some real scoring touch early on after being called up, then just disappearing, anybody know what it was with him that ended his push to the big club?

Recently, Rozsival and Nylander.

Since no one named Tom Poti, well, one did and said JK, I am guessing he is the MOST HATED Ranger ever.

Tom Poti
