Might give Stepan an even better chance of making the team out of the gate.

Or, damn the team will be miss a guy who gives it his all on the ice. Yeah, we know he doesn't score enough to merit the contract, but he's a heart & soul player who has the respect of his teammates and does the little things to win, especially in a defensive posture and on the PK.

This is good stuff. The young players watching their captain put his body in front of a puck in a SCRIMMAGE.

Definitely makes our team worse, but gives us a chance to see Stepan on the big club. I don't have an issue with him playing a bit with Gaborik and Frolov and a bit on the 3rd line.

Thats too bad. But it wont kill us. It may give guys like White, Boyle, or Stepan a shot where they might not have had otherwise.

I will be interested to see if they substitute a Captain for the first five games or so that he misses.

Oooops!

Looks like I jinxed us with a comment I made yesterday.

So if Prospal still gets the "A", then we have all our lettermen on the same line?
In reference to VP/Dru/Cally finding chemistry together on the same line durring camp.

That really sucks for Drury. You can make fun of this all you want, but he was probably anticipating this season more than anyone else. This will definitely impact the team because Drury is an awesome PK'er

I posted my lineup in the other thread and I had Drury out of it.

Some times things have as working itself out. I was talking about the Rangers having so many players in camp what are they going to do if some of the young player show they're ready.

Well we're cap compliant now

Throw Drury on IR. Redden even gets to start the season in NY. Really hoping McDonagh makes it though

4-5 games. That's good enough for me to se Stepan

Frolov-Stepan-Gaborik
Dubinsky-White-Prospal
Avery-Anisimov-Callahan
Kennedy-EC-Prust

That should be our opening night lineup, with MZA and Boogaard as scratches

This is the same coach that went several games with only 1 "A" in the lineup, the entire season without a second assistant coach and no #7 defenseman.

Should only miss 3 or 4 games then correct?

Not the greatest news, but could be worse.

What is wrong with some of you? At some point you need to look past the fact that SATHER handed out the bad contract to drury that summer. It wasnt like there were reports of drury asking for so much money and dragging out the process of nailing down a contract. It happened fast which should lead everyone to believe that sather clearly caved in. Drury is still a valuable hockey player. He plays hard whether you want to believe it or not. You can continuously be ignorant and be angry at him for the contract he has or you can finally come back down to earth now that its been what 3-4 years that hes been here and realize the type of player he actually is. He broke is finger blocking a shot in a SCRIMMAGE. The guy does have intangibles. No it didnt warrant the contract that he has, but he does so many things. Yeah itd be nice if he scored more, but that hasnt happened. He still is a great PKer, shot blocker, defensive forward, and I believe a good leader. Grow up already.

I don't think MZA should be a scratch. Here or Hartford. And as far as I'm concerned, here. Kennedy, no thanks. Same for White.

Well said. All of this toxic contract(s) talk has been beaten to death. Enough already.

The White, Kennedy, Stepan, Cristensen competition just got a little stiffer.

Agree about the Drury stuff. People kill that to death and then kill it again. IT is what it is. A terrible contract. Having Drury out doesnt help this team imo.

Kennedy will be on the roster. Whether he starts or is a scratch is another matter entirely.

If we are running 23 guys, as Torts has suggested, then Drury's injury does not necessarily mean that another kid will make the team who otherwise wouldnt have. It may just mean Boyle or White will play, instead of being a scratch.

It also may mean Redden hangs around a little bit longer.
