It's embarrassing. It's like they are conceding the division. The Braves are the whiniest organization out there. Smoltz used to whine about CBP every time they were in town. Apparently Charlie's response to his Schuerholz' quote was that he tells our guys champions can win anywhere.
I don't mind McCarthy. He isn't a great play by play guy; his voice can be shrill and screechy and he doesn't have particularly memorable calls, but he seems like a pretty likable guy to me and is reasonably professional. He is biased toward the Phillies, but not to the point of annoyance like many other announcers (Marlins, Nationals, etc.)
Wheeler is Wheeler. He has probably forgotten more about the Phillies than most of us will ever know, but he isn't really the kind of personality to have on television.
I dislike McCarthy and Wheels, but particularly when put together. McCarthy doesn't realize the game isn't one of his little puff story shorts, and Wheels will forever be embedded in my memory as the only member of the organization not emotionally stirred in his interview after Harry died. LA was crying, Franzke was upset and only knew him two years, and Wheels is Wheels (and I'm aware of their history, but I still think it's ********).
I take Sarge with a grain of salt -- at least he inadvertantly says something hilariously sexual once a game or so. Franzke and LA are where it's at, and it's evidenced by Franzke being the one getting most of the TV and radio call replays.
I was watching the game with someone who wanted to flip back-and-forth to Dancing With The Stars so I missed some of it.
When we flipped back to the Phillies, sometime during the middle of the game, wheels was going off an a rant about something that happened and how they shouldn't be talking about it because all they want is attention. What was he going on about? Did someone run on the field again or something?
Yeah a fan ran on the field again and Wheels kind of went off on a tangent about it from what I heard but I wasn't paying too much attention to it at the time.

Thanks.
I don't blame Wheels for going off. I find it ridiculous personally. I'd be happy if everyone who runs on the field received a nice tazer in the ass. That might keep 'em off the field.
Really though, this is the biggest negative to the Phillies being good again. All of these "frat boy types" who make tickets hard to come by and do stupid **** like running on the field.

It's what happens with a successful team. Success is Bandwagon bound. I find a large portion of the fans I run into anymore are relatively uneducated when it actually comes to the team. And that's just this one -- going back even five years, there's almost never a shot.
Frankly, they'd probably be on top with a relative cushion if it weren't for all the injuries. This year's been a hell of a ride so far.
Oh yeah, for sure... reminds me of how good our record would have been last season if Lidge didn't have the worst year in the history of the closer position.
All I wanna say is that when we were down and people were telling me it's just not gonna happen this year and I told them look watch in September we get things done in the clutch. To all of you I say told you so *****es. (Not directed at anybody on the boards)

Matt Diaz tackled the idiot. That part was awesome. Running onto the field in the middle of an at-bat makes this even worse than the earlier ones.
Awesome win tonight, atmosphere wasn't quite at playoff level, but Hamels was in 08 postseason mode again, and we got some runs by small ball and capitalizing on the big mistake by Heyward. Hey, you play a "big time" rookie, there are rewards and risks.

There was some angst around here. If you go back to the "dark days" of June or whatever, you'll find a post from me saying something along the lines of "talk to me in August."

I said it then, I think part of it is just that they were bored, when they weren't hurt. It sounds pretty stupid, but when you see the way the team has flipped the switch it makes you wonder.
42-15 since July 21 when they were 7 games behind the Braves.
