I will be very disappointed if they don't meet at least one of these....

but for some reason I don't see them finishing higher than 4-6th. I may be that I'm a pessimist.

The Flyers have a great lineup, and FINALLY a full year with a good coach. Depending on injuries, they should get 100points. Anything less would be a disappointment.

Of course, we are still rocking Michael Leighton and Brian Boucher, so anything is possible.

Definitely possible, I'll be optimistic and say over.

And Leighton wins the Vezina.

p - Washington Capitals SE 82 54 15 13 121 318 233
2 y - New Jersey Devils ATL 82 48 27 7 103 222 191
3 y - Buffalo Sabres NE 82 45 27 10 100 235 207
4 x - Pittsburgh Penguins ATL 82 47 28 7 101 257 237

So basically the dividing line of a top four seed is 100pts and a goal differential of +20. And for anyone who brings up the Presidents Trophy and it "only matters is you make it".......hogwash, top four seeds win CUPs, bottom four do not, there is enough empirical evidence on this to end the conversation before it starts....!

I say at best even, but likely under. We seem to have a fair amount of playoff performers that are regular season slouchers.

There is a high probability that that will change to Bobrovsky and Backlund by the end of the season. Leighton has never played a full season and Boucher is a year older.

It all depends on how many games Shelley players.

But, really, if we are healthy we get 100. If we aren't (and we won't be... no team will be) then we will fall a bit short.

Under. Teams are too close together in the East for anyone to jump out ahead. I think 100 points would win the Conference, and the Flyers probably aren't doing that.

There were four teams with over 100pts, there is a divide of the better teams and teams who battle eachother for the last four playoff spots. Who knows, maybe you will be right but a similar breakdown as last season. Bruins are not significantly better, Sabres....who knows, NJ could take a step back....which leaves primarily Caps, Pens, and Flyers in the top 3, which means Pens and Flyers are fighting for one spot, at this point the Pens still are a better team than the Flyers until the Flyers prove differently.

...A 100 pts would not secure home ice last year.

...A 100 pts would have been the 4 seed the year before (trailing 106 pt team in 3).

Year before that had a 104, and 102 point teams.

Year before that had a 113, 107, and two 105 point teams.

Year before that 100 pts secured the 6 seed.

So, I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's almost no chance whatsoever that 100 pts would win the Conference.

---

As to the question, it will all depend on what Leighton does. If he provides .910 goaltending, then we have a very good shot (barring injuries impacting the season) at being a 100 pt / 45 win team. If Leighton slides to being a .900 goalie then it's going to be difficult to achieve that as a team.

I would go with the under, as I'm pessimistic on Leighton.

Eh... last year was the first time since the lockout 90 pts gets into the playoffs. You're likely looking at a very low seed with 90 pts, if you even get in.

One can tell that you two are American and not Canadian. Canadians put the "Eh" at the end of sentences.

I'd love to see a 105+ point season, but realistically I agree with dbr2.

I essentially agree with Jester here. Depends on how our goalie situation unfolds. If it implodes eventually, like I expect it to, then that could be the deciding factor.

I'm going on everyone coming closer together, but I guess that also means there's more loser points.
