Geoffrion is listed as a RW, but has been playing center almost exclusively at camp so far...

Looks like the young defensemen will have every opportunity to show why they're the ones who should make the bottom pairing on the big squad. That's good. We know Weber, Suter, Klein and Boullion are in - now let's see which of the younger guys step up. I would love to see Blum force his way onto the team, if only because it would mean a talented player stepping up to displace someone, which improves the overall talent level of the team. We'll have to see, though. It would probably force a trade of one of Sulzer, Franson or Parent, if it did happen.

It's sounding more and more like Ellis is the real deal, isn't it? Everything I read about the kid is that if he was three inches taller he'd have been one of the top players in his draft class without a doubt. Maybe he'll show that height isn't everything. He seems to be carrying a pretty impressive amount of power on his frame, short or not.

I have no idea what's going to happen among the forwards, but I haven't looked forward to the start of the season so much since the Kariya signing. Getting so close to moving forward last year, then the revamped roster and greatly improved depth, has me thinking that this has the potential to be a pretty good year to be a Preds fan.

interesting.

If true you have to wonder if Poile was underwhelmed with how Franson handled his contract negotiations. The only problem I see is who will be the PP QB on the 2nd unit?

I don't know. He seemed to leave that up to his agent in his comments while playing pick-up games.

I've watched two of the scrimmages, and I think he's been fortunate to have been paired with Weber. When you're playing against a lot of prospects and a few unmotivated veterans, whoever plays with Weber would look good. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about him, but doubt he'll be here much longer this year.

Oh, I'm expecting him to spend the season back in Juniors, then spend a year in Milwaukee. I'm thinking more of a couple of years down the road.

Could be interesting if they did, they could get a high pick for him, keep Ellis in Nashville [Yes, he IS good enough], and put Sulzer in the 7th role.

I'd be pretty shocked if Ellis got anything more than a 9-game tryout, and even that would be a bit surprising based on the waiver status of the other potential sixth or seventh d-men.

Are they going out of town after Wednesday's game, or back in Nashville?

Anyone going to the Preds game with the Caps on Sunday in D.C.? I'll be there with wife, son and his girlfriend.
