Jared Ross was released from Thrashers training camp. So were Angelo Esposito and Kyle McLaren.

This kid was supposed to be a big deal. Wasn't he the big piece in the Hossa trade?

He was a product of Radulovs play with the Remparts, once Radulov left he started to fall. He was only drafted in the twenties and traded midseason for Hossa.

Wasn't high originally projected to go very high in the draft early in the season? I kind of remember reading about him when I realized the Flyers were really going to suck. Or am I thinking about someone else?

You are correct. He was drafted #20 (by Pittsburgh) in 2007.

He was never good. No wonder 20 teams passed him. I remember everyone thought that Habs were going to draft him but they moved on.

But I'd grab him just in case since Flyers do not really have a lot of good prospects.

Yes, he was considered as the first overall pick, due to the sixteen year old season he had (which came by playing alongside Radulov). In his draftseason Radulov played for the Predators and Esposito fell (I think he was also cut from Canadas WJC squad). Right before the Draft he was still considered a top ten pick and Habs fans set cars on fire after they didn't draft him ...

They're both expected to be assigned to the Chicago Wolves (AHL), so it shouldn't be that big a surprise. I really like Ross, so I'm glad to see him catch on somewhere.

Watching Hawks @ Lightning. Seeing Gags in the #12 Lightning jersey is SO wrong.

Ross is actually familiar with the organization because he played for Gwinnett in the ECHL, as well as the Wolves in the past.

Gagne scores!
Lightning lead 1-0

OK, now it's Stamkos ... assist to Gagne.

Gagne with 1G, 2A, 3PTS.

I'm reading the Carey Price stuff, and it's either going to get real bad real quick, or he's going to have an incredible season. Either way it's insanity the way he was booed off the ice the other night.

If I was a Montreal fan (and thank God I'm not), I'd be embarassed. If that happened in Philly to someone like Bobrovsky I'd be very angry.

Gagne did look good but preseason stats dont mean anything

Hawks D last night

Keith-Connelly
Cullimore-Leddy
Hendry-Boynton

And 3 of the 4 goals were scored on Hannu Toivonen

Of course. But for what it's worth, he was playing with the people who are essentially going to be on his line that game. So, I expect some good production out of him.

In other news, LOLing so hard at the overrating of MPS by Oilers fans based on one preseason game against the Lightning (or should I say the Norfolk Admirals + Downie + Clark + Way out of form Dan Ellis).

For sure. I agree completely. But they are overrating him as well. The guy has real skill. But he isn't going to get it that easy very much. To suggest he is Forsberg-esque this early on is premature and naive.

It's like a Flyers fan going to the main board to brag about Bobrovsky, even though we have seen very little of him. It's just a little tasteless.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they have something to cheer about. But their being extremely pompous about it. Then they play the "boo hoo, we can't even celebrate? we're just happy!" card.

Also, it's not all Oilers fans, but some are. I'm obviously only talking about those.

The Oilers board had a couple threads proclaiming the Oilers the new Hawks

I am all for being excited about your young talent but some of there expectations seem a bit high for unproven guys

Possible

But I think it will be a wildcard unexpected winner this year

Link them. Prove it. Because I'm pretty much always there and I haven't seen so much as a hint of anything like that.

The expectations in Edmonton are extremely tempered. Nobody was expecting any of these three to so much as break 60 points this season, many of us think 40 points for any of them would be a success.
