That's some good news

Hopefully Hamrlik will be ready before October 7th and can warm up in a pre-season game.

I am ecstatic that even if these two are out to start the year we will still have a very respectable d:

Spacek-Subban
Gill-Gorges
Picard-OByrne

we've come a long way since the days of Dandenault-Bouillion (as much as I loved the effort they both gave)

Even if Markov isn't ready by the 7th, if he's back by the 15th he'll only miss 3 games, as we don't want him to rush back too soon that's for sure. There's 11 games in October, if he's back by the 21st then he still only misses 5 games.

Which would be really good considering earlier reports of him possibly missing half the season late last year

October 7th can't come fast enough!!

Markov coming back is exciting. Hamrlik, not so much.

those two never were nearly as bad as described here on HF ... bouillon can play in the NHL and be a reliable 5-6 dman... I wonder if anyone can deny that today.

I'm not a very superstitious person, but I actually wouldn't mind Markov not playing on the 7th, don't want that big meanie Grabo to injury Markov again or beat up any of our fans for that matter.

Granted if he does miss a few games it will suck but I'd rather him miss a few and return 100% ready to go since he means so much to our lineup. The thought of having Markov back for the full season along with a full season of Subban and a likely rookie or two, I can't wait for the 7th as well.

As long as our goaltending holds up to above average at least, and long injuries to our top players don't add up again, we should be in good shape this year. I'm interested to see how guys like Kostitsyn, Price, BP, Lappy rebound from last year. What a hopefully full season of Cammy/Markov/Subban/Gio looks like. If Eller can be an impact player that produces consistently, Kostitsyn breaks 20+, BP hit 20+, Cammy/Pleks/Markov/Gio/Subban/Gomer all produce as expected, this team should win their fair share of games.

Getting more production from all callups throughout the year would be nice to see as well, as I suspect this team will need to find a way to score a little more then they did last year if not by a good bit.

Are you suggesting that Picard or O'byrne are better than Hamrlik?

With everyone healthy, I would rather have O'Byrne. We need him to develop.

I agree that O'byrne needs to play and develop, but to sit Hamrlik to play him would hurt the team. I have no fear taht this will happen as JM is not a big OB fan, muck like he wasn't a big Lats fan.

Yes they need time to develop but no way can we afford them at the expense of sitting Hamrlik and im not a big Hammer fan.If we move Hamrlik just to say it's to get another top 4 D back in exchange,Picard or O'Byrne will not be good enough for this club full time(this year) anyways

Great news. If Hamrlik could be good to play a couple of games in the training camp, I think it would be ideal. As for Markov, the fact he's going to be back sometime in October is a great news, but it's nowhere as big of a surprise as some here make it out to be. I don't know where people heard that he was supposed to miss the first two months of activity, but Markov got hurt on April 30th, and was supposed to be sidelined for 6 Months, which brought us to October 30th. And we all know the guy is a quick healer.

its because ACL injuries were always about 8-10 months, and 6 months no weight on it

over the past couple of years, i dont know if its the doctors or athletes conditioning, but acl injuries have been reduced in way less time then it used to be, a 6 month timeframe is perfectly reasonable nowadays for a acl injury to heal it seems, dont rush it still, but its no longer the insane out 8-10 months/full season that it used to be like when it happened to peca.
