Ideally no trades are made and we dump Redden I think we would see the following...

Frolov- Stepan - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Grachev
Prospal - Drury - Callahan
Boogaard - Boyle - Prust
Kennedy

Staal - Girardi
Del Zotto - Rozsival
McDonagh - Eminger
Semenov

Lundqvist and Biron

Zuccarello takes some time in minors to adjust his game to smaller rink although he is a crafty lil guy.

Rangers would cut ties but how waiver or trade for the following: White, Avery, Christensen

Plus on D: Gilroy(doesn't gilroy have to pass through waivers to go to hartford?)

Ideally no trades are made. No unsigned training camp invitees are signed and the two or three veterans who don't make the team are pawned off for draft picks or prospects.

Ideally Stepan can show he's something like the real deal and Anisimov steps up and has a more productive second season and ideally we hang on to all our younger forwards and defense and Lundqvist, Gaborik, Dubinsky, Callahan, Anisimov, Stepan, Prust, Staal, Del Zotto, Girardi, McDonagh etc. are all future core members of the team and Frolov has a big season and we sign him again. And ideally in the near future we add Grachev, MZA, Kreider, Johnson, Werek, Thomas and McIlrath into the mix.

Or to put it more simply sometime patience is the key.

That's just a rumor, but there is no timetable for Savard's return as far as I know.

one of those 3 would get a stay of execution until Drury gets back. 2 if Grachev (despite your wishes) is deemed "not ready"

Above is what I think are the givens, they are either key guys or obvious guys a la Gabbo, Frolov, Girardi, Staal, Del Zotto, Cally, ect...
You don't view Dubinsky and Rozy as givens to make the roster?

In a sense yes and no, because what i figure as givens are pieces that won't be moved either via waiver wire or traded in the possibility of another center. Should there be no trade then yeah of course I expect to see Rozy and Dubi and Anisimov in there.

Gotcha.

This is going to be a very interesting couple of weeks. I don't remember us having these many roster questions in training camp in a while. Usually you can look at the camp roster and have a good idea who is going to be making it aside from one or two spots.

The way to remedy that would be to play him.

Like it. Here is my "no trade" team / almost identical:

Frolov- Stepan - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Grachev
Prospal - Drury - Callahan
Boogaard - Avery - Prust
Kennedy, Boyle

Staal - Girardi
Del Zotto - Rozsival
McDonagh - Gilroy
Semenov

Lundqvist and Biron

What could then the likes of Redden, Christ, White & Eminger + some secondary pics, our bottom 3 fodder and mid-tier prospects fetch us ?
Probably nothing worth printing...

I wouldn't be shocked to see Stepan, Grachev, MZA, and McDonagh start the year in Hartford.

I think EC takes the 1C spot to start the year. Anisimov as our 2C, Drury on the third, and Boyle on the 4th. Kennedy will be our extra forward.

Frolov and Gabs on the 1st line.. Dubinsky and Prospal on the second line... Avery and Callahan on the third, and Prust/Boogey on the 4th.

I'd love to see EC play terrible and basically force us to play Stepan. But, I don't think that'll happen. EC will do just enough to at least start the year on that top line, imo.

Frolov-EC-Gaborik
Dubi-Anisimov-Prospal
Avery-Drury-Callahan
Boogey-Boyle/Kennedy-Prust

I just don't see where Grachev and MZA play. I'd personally rather see:

Frolov-Stepan-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-MZA
Prospal-Drury-Callahan
Avery-Kennedy-Prust or Boogaard-Avery-Prust? I kinda like Boyle in that 4th slot though. Gotta play Avery though. Wherever.

I think this board is going to collapse when Torts (deservingly?) gives the nod to vets instead of kids.

I don't see a trade happening either.. Sather's been true to his word regarding the core of this team, and a 1st line center will gut that core up. Look for one of those annoying low-risk/high-reward type deals.. Only player that fits that mold, imo, is Savard... Unless he comes cheap (Gilroy and washington's 2nd??) he's a long-shot. Who knows though? Maybe they'll have him just sit out this year and seek proper rehabilition (which, in concussion cases, is time).. Not sure how it would work from a salary perspective though.

Gotta keep a keen eye on AA and Gilroy tomorrow. Those two kids have a lot of pressure on them this camp. I'm confident AA looks a lot better this season. If he repeats that progression he showed in Hartford from his Freshman to Sophomore season, he'll really help solidy the spine of this team. And I think Gilroy is going to impress a lot of people tomorrow. I think some might be writing him off a bit too early.

i agree that barring a deal Zuccarello and Grachev start in the AHL. They will be called up when injuries occur. Atleast they have depth for the inevitable

Next yr i expect both on the team for sure. Stepan i think makes it now

Not a big fan of this quote in the article....

In other news, although Derek Stepan looked good last night between Alex Frolov and Marian Gaborik, he is not an experienced center and may not be the answer to the Rangersí needs in that spot. Donít count out a trade over the coming days for an experienced number one guy to center the top line.

I say let the players battle it out in camp and see who wins the first line center position... EC, White, AA, Stepan.... Let the best player win....

I do believe the player who gets the first line position and plays most of the year as the 1C will get 60 points or so...

What about Prospal playing first line center? There is plenty of depth on the wings where Prospal can be moved to center. He has real good chemistry with Gaborik and he has played center in the past. Prospal has the skill and etc...

Here's the line-up I want to see on opening night.

I'm all for signing Semenov to a real cheap contract as our 7th d-man and then waiving Eminger or something.

One thing I noticed though is that when Drury comes back it really makes things difficult. Where does Vinny go? Where does Avery go? etc.

Gotta count Drury's cap hit even though he's hurt. He won't qualify for LTIR and even if he does that stuff doesn't factor in until the end of the season and we go over the cap. Probably looking at $1.5m in cap space. I'm just assuming you didn't count him because he's no where in the roster.

Yeah that was less about the cap and more just me having an easier way to format the roster I want.

Would you guys do Todd White for Souray and a 2nd rounder? What would EDM have to pay if they wanted us to take him?

Really don't want anything to do with the guy.... With Redden waived that leaves open the window to trade Michael Rozsival next summer and have a lot of extra spending cap space on a true first pairing veteran defenseman if one is available for the plucking...
