Gross and Spector both said White begged the trainers to let him play tonight. I kind of like to hear that.

Lundqvist is going to have to have a big game if they want to win this one, IMO.

Excited to see Anisimov and Grachev together though.

Wow... these lineups are so lopsided.

8-1 Devils.

I'm just looking forward to seeing Grachev and Valentenko play.

This should be fun to watch the rookies and tryout players play. Cant wat to see Grachev play.

My prediction.
6-2 devils . Fedetanko, Eminger, Lundqvist gives up 3

Boogaard-Newbury-Weise.

Del Zotto-Eminger

Lundqvist.

Can not wait to see the second line play.Byers has killed himself to be in the best shape of anyone in camp and in the off ice dills was first or second in all of them, Grachev needs a good game tonight more then anyone to keep getting noticed. LaBlond is going to play for the run he took at MZA trust me on this one. New bury and Boogy and weise is one tuff line tonight might be a old fashion kick a@@ pre season game. Rangers dressing a very tough road line up. Devils with there tougher line up also. hey where is Redden? I kid I KID

The Devils are ridiculous playing that first line again. Clearly they're good. I'd be more worried about everyone else on the roster, including fatso, more than I'd be worried about a first line that put up something like 250 points combined last season. One of them is going to get hurt and I am going to laugh until I can't breathe.

As the wise older man behind me at MSG on thursday said "Yeah, that line is dangerous, but they got nothin else." It sure seems that way.

I hope Boogaard catches up with Leblond this time and beats him senseless.

I'm excited to see Anisimov, Grachev and Tank. I expect to see this "bomb" Tank has as well as some of his rough play.

I'm horrified to see Fedotenko on the first line though. This guy better not make the team. Talk about a waste of a spot. He's done pretty much nothing to earn it so far.

I don't mean to "troll" but really? ^^^

Elias, Arnott, Langenbrunner, Clarkson, and possibly Zubrus are all capable forwards, especially the first three. I know that there is no chance in hell that you watched the Devils first preseason game against Philly but Elias and Arnott looked great as the 1st line against Philly's top line-up.

soooo out of the Forwards I would say Cally, Anisimov, Boogaard, Avery, Kennedy are on the team. the rest are AHL bound

On D, DelZotto and one of the others. I am hoping Valatenko makes the team

Cuts coming after the game no? Williams, Newbury, Byers, Weise are gondie to Hartford I think. They will keep Zuccarello and Grachev right to the end

Grachev has a good shot at making the team as a RW. Spots are up for grabs imo.

I have to agree. NJ's top 9 is one of the best in the league. Not sold on their defense, however.

Yup, I agree with you. Greene and Volchenkov better play ot their best abilities and stay healthy. Greene needs to build on last year. Tallinder and Ubom were an awesome pairing against Philly in the preseason but who knows how that will work out. Also, I am not a fan of White because he's so damn slow. We'll see I guess. The offense better show up when it counts.

Btw, is Callahan playing tonight? And, Avery?

You're not trolling. Not to me at least.

My point is its the preseason. You play players who you want to get a good look at and you combine them in different lines to see who has chemistry with who. Last game, that line killed it. They literally scored every single goal. So whats the point of putting them all out there together again? The coach knows they're good apart, he knows their good together. Instead of tinkering with lines and letting the other capable forwards find their groove and get a lot of minutes, or even, god forbid, let some prospects get time on the top line, the coach is going to put out the three best scorers on a line together again two nights in a row. I think thats lame and honestly I don't care at all if you agree with me. Its a matter of opinion.

I did watch the first game against the Flyers actually because it was the first hockey game available to me all preseason. Again, I'm not saying those forwards aren't good, I'm saying a line that scored 100% of your teams goals in the last preseason game shouldn't start the next game. Its preseason, and they've clearly shown they work well together.

Who would have thought an HF poster would accuse another of not watching something because their opinions vary?

Now I've seen everything.

I agree that the 1st line shouldn't be playing again.

I responded to your point saying that the Devils have nothing beyond that line, which is BS.

Hope to see Fedotenko step up tonight.

I may be in the minority, but I'd like to see him on the team. Hes a balls player and used to play for Torts.

Rather him than White.

Avery
Prust
Boogaard
Kennedy

The top 3 are on the team and Kennedy is 10 times the player Byers is. Hes not an NHLer and never will be.

Numbers wise it seems impossible but if he plays like Cally did when he first joined the league he'd knock off Avery, Weise, White, kennedy, boogie, boyle or Prust.

He's obviously worked himself into very good shape so we'll see if his skill and play will earn him a spot. Simply saying he isn't making it seems very short sighted especially with the words coming out of camp and the fact he hasn't played yet.

If I had to bet before camp i'd have said he wouldn't but he's changed my mind and I think he has a chance.

Well, if the Devil fans (not all, so no disrespect to any Devil fans posting) were complaining that we were playing most of our team against the Albany Devils on Thursday, then tonight it's clearly the New Jersey Devils vs the Hartford Whale...

....seriously? The Hartford Whale? We're singular? Not the Whalers, the Whales, etc. but A whale?

My bad, I meant that the 1st line is obviously working on a level above the other lines and that everyone else seems like they could use the preseason minutes more than them.

I meant that from the lineup they showed Thursday, they had 1 good line scoring well and 3 others not doing much of anything. The players who weren't out there for that game obviously didn't have a chance to contribute, but the other 3 lines that played on thursday didn't pose much of a threat at any point.
