I was thinking that he was an option and in the pen... but, you may be correct and by that point he was on the shelf. I remember he was sharing games with Pedro in the second half, and that Pedro was the clear leader between the two going on, whether or not Moyer was injured.

... And Martinez was playing that last game of the series on shear heart as he was reported to be ill. Have to tip my cap at that for sure... The team didn't quit; they were just beat by a hair or so... But the team was nowhere near as set up as this one is. That is not to say that they will even win a series... who knows how things will pan out... but they are stacked and well situated for a long run, IMO.

Sorry for any brain farts that I may have had in time lines... but I'm sure you got my point.

Was at the game last night the guy in front of me had a sign that stated "NL East Champs: 2008, 2009, 2010"

Guess the guy wasn't a fan back in 2007.....

Does the New York Daily News have anything better to write about?

No. They're all about style points with readers at this point, because there really is nothing left to say that could count for real reporting to their readers.

If the Braves can do anything right at all, I want them to win today, so I can see the division clinched in person tomorrow.

I don't see how us booing Sarah Palin is a bad moment.

There would be fans booing Palin at any hockey arena in the country. And also people run on the field in every ballpark and stadium as well.

The NY Daily News isn't a real newspaper anyway. Its right next to the National Inquirer.

Does anyone else find it hilarious that the Mets are *****ing about Utley's slide yesterday? Just because you're not playing for anything doesn't mean that we don't have to play hard.

It was a pretty *ing late slide.

I'd throw at him if he did that to my teammate.

Yeah, he always do that, as does most of MLB. I'll admit Utley definitely takes it to the edge and then past it usually, but I love that on our team.

And yeah, I hope they do. He'll take in the back as he usually does. Then again, you're talking about the Mets, so obviously their pitchers don't feel the need to stand up for their teammates.

RA Dickey doesn't exactly impart fear into batters, though. Even if he did, Utley would probably just be happy with himself for drawing a free pass.

Watching the Braves/Nationals game and they're advertising $24 for Lower/Club level seats for the series against the Marlins (Sept. 27-29th)

I actually don't get why people are criticizing the Mets for taking umbrage with it... they clearly still care enough to take umbrage. If they were packing it in, we wouldn't hear a peep from 'em.

And, to be clear, I have no problem with Utley making that play... people just need to respect the fact that if you're on the other side of that play you have the responsibility to stand up for/protect your teammates.

Most of those events are neutral-to-funny to me. Cheering Irvin's injury, vomiting on people on purpose, and throwing batteries are the only ones I really think were beyond the pale.

With this rookie hoping to say he's shut down the mighty Phils? Doubtful. And if it's the next day, it should come first AB to have meaning.

Or if hes a rookie, he going to try and want to win over his teammates, and hit him in his first at bat.

Depends on if the bases are empty or two on.

Good way for a rookie to make a statement with his team.
