Stepan isn't as good as Lecavalier, so we should trade all of our prospects (because that's what it would take) for a guy who's contract is worse then any contract in Rangers history.

They didn't just clear Redden's cap hit so they could go out and get worse contracts.

And contrary to some here, Stepan WILL be the face of the organization, bank it, the kid is going to be a leader by example and voice, and if this team ever wins the Cup again, he's going to be the one that leads them there.

Lofty, fine, but that's how it'll be. And I'm sure that's what they're hoping for.

People who don't want a young team, people who don't value rooks and prospects, should just stop watching the Rangers, because that's the future of the organization.
So now you know how much it will cost to get Vinny? All our prospects huh?

We waived Redden because we are over the cap with him.

A team full of youngsters will never happen here. You will always need veterans to help the young players along. Look at what MDZ said about Redden. I can only imagine what Dubinsky, Staal, Cally, ect would say about Drury, Rozsival. You know the guys most of you all hate.

We're not getting Vincent LeCavalier.

That's what i'm basing my opinion on. Stepan has never failed to impress. Just because he's young and inexperienced now doesn't mean trading Dubinsky and Anisimov and whatever else for Richards will be good when Step is ready for the 1st line truly.
So when is good to trade Dubinsky? Wanna wait till his new contract where we will have to overpay him? Or when he holds out again and his value takes a hit? In my opinion this is the year we should try to move him, even more so if Stepan really keeps it up.

Maybe not but I do hope we are looking for some kind of help at center. A true #1 guy. I'm not happy with EC or Prospal at that position.

What team is just giving us their #1 center? Seriously.

This isn't a damn video game.

after seeing Stepans chemistry with Frolov and Gabby i'm thinking he might be our first this season.

both players would make us better...but their contracts blow. id take richards over lecavalier in terms of short term, but id rather have lecavalier on my team for the next 5 years or so. but i dont like either of their contracts, and i doubt richards will re-sign for anything less than 7 mil a season.

I'm curious - where is this stuff about Vinny having fell off coming from? He scored one more point last year than during the SC year. Am I missing something?

If its a consistency thing then I could deal with my #1 center being inconsistent and netting between 70-80 pts.

2007 - 52G
2008 - 40G
2009 - 29G
2010 - 24G

For a guy now on the wrong side of 30 with 3 consecutive years of declining productivity, on a contract that comes with a cap hit of over 7.7M for the next 10 years, bringing in Vinny would be as bad as any other move made in the past 3 years.
