Clarkson tried to hit Anisimov in the middle of the ice but Anisimov cut at the last second and Clarkson tried to turn as well but was off balance when he gave the hit. Clarkson got the worst of the hit but it was more a fact of Clarkson being off balance then Anisimov being overly strong.

Anisimov had the puck and Clarkson was going for the open-ice hit. Anisimov saw him coming, passed the puck off, braced for the hit, and sent Clarkson flying.

It was Clarkson who tried to hit AA. Anisimov got the better end of that . Last year he probably would of gotten crushed because he always had his head down that is a good sign.

Valentenko threw a great hit on Clarkson.

Avery put it well in the post-game - if he fought everyone who went after him in a game he'd never have any time to play.

Kovy is SO soft mentally. I knew he was a little bit of a hothead but wow. He has zero idea of what Avery's game is.

Lastly, I know we won the game and I'm not saying it changed the score or anything but the refs were absolutely awful. Clarkson has gloves off and is grabbing Avery and gets no penalty. Avery says something to Kovy and Kovy pounces on him and tries to pull him out from under a ref - Avery gets 10 minutes. Avery said after the game that the refs told him he got 10 because he "can't go after a superstar" that is a load of BS. Superstars can do whatever they want now I guess since the refs don't call **** on them and apparently its against the rules to make them punch you?
That's two games in a row now that the Devils have hidden behind the refs but sooner or later they will get an officiating crew that will let them go at it before and after the whistle. I'm sure they'll all be "too valuable to lose" or "too mismatched in size" and will run all night.

I think that one kid posted he was 16 - I stopped reading that thread. It certainly explains some of the idiotic posts coming from Devils and Islanders fans over there. Actually I'm sure they're all tweeners there rather than adults who've actually watched the game for more than a few years.
