BS that was Renney politics. The organization is practicing what the preach by giving jobs based on merit.
Betts was Renney's boy. Renney more so than Tortorella showed unwaivering loyalty to certain players and wouldn't give others a sniff. We probably would have beaten Washington in the playoffs that year if we had signed Nedved as an extra forward. He would have come in handy when Avery and Antropov were the only forwards that showed up for game 7.
That's an interesting take on it.
Still, we have a lot of hard competition for a few places and I doubt everyone who seems like they deserve a spot will get one, regardless of who's the current coach.
I'm not being wishy washy...I think Grachev will be a good to great Ranger in the future but he needs more seasoning in the AHL.
I compare him to the way Anisimov was developed. There is just no room for him on this years roster and theres no need to rush him as he is not the difference between this team contending and not.
Its not impossible that he wont see time this year but making the team is a long shot... i am in no way saying that he is not eventually NHL caliber.
sickening the way some people jump on you here* without asking for a further explanation
Sickening how everyone takes everything so personal. I wasn't even replying to your post was I? dank brought up a good point in that a large portion of this board is quick to judge players. I am sorry you were a part of the generalization. I fully understand the possibility that Grachev doesn't see a game this year, but if he does I wouldn't consider it luck. He'll have to earn it just like everyone else.
