I always hate when after a long winning streak is over and the team slumps... Plenty of time to get the Mojo back though.

Let us chill here. I know the last 2 games haven't been particularly pretty but come on...

Why? We all know that they are a bunch of chokers... Losing two games when they can clinch is for chokers... So what if they did sweep a series from their only real rival when the money was on the line? So what!!!??? What have they done for us lately? They are chokers, plain and simple.

Gotcha

But the middle relief is their Achilles heel... And Hamels does have to keep doing what he did in his maturation process that has peaked in the second half of the season. He has to do what he can do and not allow an awful ump to throw him off his game... He is but one of three excellent aces in the rotation; a bad outing is not the end of the World as long as it is left on the field in that game, and takes nothing away from what he has built up over the last dozen games or so.

I'm not worried.

I think the Phillies have clinched a Playoff birth with the Reds beating the Padres.

From what I understand they clinched a spot when and a Division tie when Washington beat the Braves... If they lose out and Atlanta wins out they will have a one game playoff to determine the Division Champions and the loser is the Wild Card team.

Before I learned this I believed that head to head competition was the determining factor... IDK, maybe if Atlanta sweeps the Phillies they will have the same head to head record... ???

Wow, this team SUCKS!! A two game losing streak after an 11 game winning streak? What frauds. Let's just blow the whole thing up now before we get humiliated in the playoffs.

A playoff berth was clinched today.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...s_mlb&c_id=mlb

Quote:
The Phillies are 93-63 with six games to play.

If the Atlanta Braves (87-69) win their remaining games, they can finish with no more than 93 wins.

The Padres (87-68) and San Francisco Giants (88-68) are competing for the NL West title, with the Giants holding a half-game lead. They play each other in a three-game series at AT&T Park in San Francisco next weekend. If both teams win every game leading up to that series, they both would be 91-68.

One of those teams obviously will win at least two of those games, pushing one team to at least 93 wins while the other team finishes with no more than 92.

Thus, the Phillies have made the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

But a playoff berth was not going to get the Phillies celebrating Sunday. They want the division championship.

I was only repeating what I heard... The only important thing is that a spot was clinched, and the Division Championship would only be lost in an embarrassing collapse by the Fightin's and a reversal of form by the Bravos as they win out -- three games against the Phillies in the process, four if you count the one game playoff.

I believe that the Home Field is all but certain also if the Phillies win another game.

Here's hoping that they beat the Nats on Monday and coast while they set up their rotation and rest the regular eight... Actually seven since J-Roll needs to get into playing shape and a groove.

Right, but let's not think about that.

Tomorrow is clinching day.

Halladay vs. Lannan in D.C.

How poetic indeed.

Yeah, they're ridiculously cheap on Stubhub.

If go if I didn't have to worry about parking... and D.C. traffic... and rain.

If the Phils win one more, they not only clinch the NL East, but they will also clinch the best record in the NL. Homefield *****es!

Tell the Nationals they have to forfeit or all our fans who bought their tickets will need a refund.

Decent chance the Phils might clinch the East in absentia.

Also, Phillies and Nats both have Thurs. as an off-day, so even if the next two were PPD, they could try to squeeze in a double-header.
