This is pretty close to what our final roster is going to end up, I think. Might be reading into things, but Jonas Andersson may end up being the odd man out...

Sometimes I wish we could get rid of Beeler so a more talented player could make the roster. But if his main role is healthy scratch, I guess that's fine.

i was baffled and irritated when we re-signed him. Dude can't even fight anymore, it's all hugfests. Let Tootoo do whatever policing need be done. The only guys that Belak would fight are similar staged, WWE-style clowns.

i would bet his role extends off ice aas well. from all accounts, he is a good locker room guy and keeps guys loose, which you need. as much as the play on ice is important, off ice it too. i think we forget that sometimes.

Agreed. A hockey season is a marathon and the Preds have a loose locker room.

that's all well and good, but it's still a roster spot that could go to someone who might be a character, but can also contribute in some fathomable way on the ice.

Who will spend 75% of the time in the Press box enjoying BBQ nachos. Can't put a kid there simply because that will stunt their development.

Not to mention make them eligible for a bigger raise quicker

no, you can't put a kid, but you could use that spot for someone like Jamie Lundmark-- the perfect utility player.

this is kinda OT but I didn't want to make a thread for it. Is Blum going play all year? Or at least get a chance?

Man, I'm really liking Atlanta's roster this year. Hopefully we won't make Mason look like a god tonight.

Blum will start in Milwaukee (where he has already been assigned), but will be in line to get a callup if he continues his development in the way he finished last year...

Just too much depth right now...

Trotz talked on radio about guys playing together tonight as the first stage to him setting the lines. He said we'll see Lombardi with Erat and Wilson on the wings. Leggy, Ward, and "maybe Kostitsyn" on another. He said he'll mix and match but "you'll see Erat and Wilson a lot since I think those two will work well together".

Darn. I was hoping Leggy would get someone other than Wardy. No offense to Ward. I like the sound of Sergei there though.

Haven't been able to make any preseason games however with the team scoring only 6 goals in 4 games should we be concerned Offense will be a problem again this year? Or do we just chalk it up to "it's just preseason"?

Just seems a little disappointing in 4 games awe haven't scored more than 2 goals in any game. Not gonna really worry till the regular season just something to keep an eye on.

Kostitsyn with a solid game as he clicked a little more with his teammates as he gets used to our system and players. His goal was a pretty simple redirect after Weber made a great pass. His play is a bit risky sometimes, so he will create turnovers during games, you wonder how far Trotz will go to limit his offensive play.

Lombardi seemed to create a ton of chances from his speed alone. Sometimes it looked like nothing was going to happen until he used his speed to create a turnover or beat a guy.

Lundmark was really poor, unless he has shown more in camp, I don't see him making the team.

Parent is slow to the puck but is able to get guys off the puck. His puck-handling skills leave much to be desired.

Bouillon stopped a sure goal in the third, but overall didn't look up to par, still struggled to get the puck out of the zone, and put Klein in a few bad positions tonight with poor passes trying to get out of the zone.

I see more struggles with our team moving the puck out of the defensive zone this season, forcing turnovers near the blueline or causing more icings.

I don't like Erat and Wilson together, you really need a shooter on that line.

The team overall was really close to getting a few more goals, oftentimes inches away from stringing together passes. Again, the ice played into this a bit.

And it's nice to see a captain stand up for teammates, we haven't had that in a while. Weber immediately went to challenge Byfuglien after his hit on Smithson late in the game. You don't want to see hits like that during preseason to be honest.

I like how people blame Belak for holding up the talent in MIL. what about Tootoo. He's just as useless. I don't know why everybody thinks he some kind of useful player. Just because he can check hard doesn't mean he deserves a spot.

I wondered when Trotz said he expected they would work well together. I thought, at what, controlling the puck and passing to each other?

I can't believe Wilson got zero PP time. I penciled him in pre-season.

When Ward doesn't finish into the empty net at the end Trotz *****es and draws parallels to the Chicago series about not putting teams away. It's Joel Ward! A career grinder and decent utility man. Those things will happen.

He still needs to finish from inside the blue line on a wide open net but even with the miss if he skates at all to get out of the zone webers empty netter counts.
