Side note: This will be a complete disaster if we dont win (and dominate) tonight. We're problably going to see a partial Buffalo lineup, and outside of Caputi over Sjostrom (which IMO isn't that big a downgrade) and maybe Brent, this is our opening night roster.
You do know it's still pre-season right? Love the chicken little posts to create hysteria and havoc.

Brent doesn't seem like an NHLer and I think he would be a poor choice for that role...lacks size, for one, when we're already small at forward.

I'd rather try Armstrong in the middle with Sjostrom and Caputi flanking him.

I'm from Cambridge, so I've followed his career and he's put up solid, yet unspectacular numbers in the A. I see him fitting as a Dominic Moore-type player (if he makes the team), which isn't too bad at all. Two-way player that isn't too gritty, but not soft either.

I like it.

I heard they were looking on the waiver wire for a 3rd line centre so maybe if they find one on it they will send Brent down but until then he is saying for now he is the 3rd

TSNBobMcKenzie There are about 9 million guys on waivers today, but no one whose name jumps out at you as wow, can't believe he's on waivers.

..and...

so why the heck don't you bring it while you still have the chance?

I think all that Kadri is saying is that he is still thinks he has more to show then what he has so far (ie hasn't played his best yet for whatever reason). I think all this crap about Burke looking for another center is to light more of a fire under his ass.

I hope Brent is the opening night third line center. He's been with the Marlies for a couple of years, paid his dues. He's really good in the faceoff circle, and honestly having Mitchell taken out is as a good reason than anything!! I can't stand Mitchell. He's a big guy that doesn't use his size nearly enough. Tim has had a solid training camp and has looked way better than Mitchell or any other option we have right now.

I'd like to see Zigomanis or Brent there or a good 3rd line center claimed off waivers like Ryan Johnson.

My blog yesterday was off...Tim Brent looks like the front-runner for the 3rd line centre job.

Any Thoughts???
I don't know where your getting that Brent WILL be our 3rd line centre from any of this. Wilson said the lineup right now "pretty much" will be the lineup come opening night (this doesnt mean that 1 or 2 players wont be added to/subtracted from the lineup). Of course Brent would have the front runner lead on the role, thats only because a) kadri and mitchell have **** the bed in camp b) Burke hasnt begun the waiver wire looking process.

Surprised Sjostrom isn't on the team. I think Tim Brent is going to be the new John Mitchell.

still not crazy about the MacArthur signing and how he makes the top 6 by default
Brent as 3rd line C is not reassuring that this is a playoff team

Sjostrom will be in there when he's healthy

this thread title is misleading and sort of dumb.

i just listened to Burke on the radio and Tim Brent is not our third line C going into the season...he's just saying he has a shot.

Sjostrom is recovering from shoulder surgery and won't be ready until somewhere around the start of the season. He is probably one of the reasons Wilson said "pretty much" not "is."

Sjostrom is hurt..he'll have a spot on this team. What he showed last year with his ability on the PK and how he can chip in a little bit offensively isn't going to prevent him from making this team because of Tim Brent or any other option we have for the third line.

He's scored about 16 goals each in the last two seasons, is still young, Leafs have his RFA status, and is cheap, and hungry for a big contract. Not sure what more anyone could want?

Johnson is still a free agent (i believe) and is a 4th line player for sure, not 3rd.

Morrison is still out there i think. rumblings he is going to sign with the Canucks though...but they have Sedin/Kesler/Malhotra up the middle, so i'm not sure he fits there. he would be a good 3rd line C option.

And how may of those were available to Burke and co, this year? Or did Burke just drop the ball on that one?
