Ouch. There are some reports circulating that Mark Streit will be out for 6 months.

Yep

Been terrible in camp and preseason according to there fans ,,, Gotta wonder if he is just another AHL standout who wont amount to much in NHL

His career in NHL to this point hasn't been too impressive

Where do you guys see Meszaros fitting in? is he going to get PP time? 1st or 2nd unit?

My gut feeling was that bringing him in because Timonen is getting up there and they'd rather allow him to focus on PK and Mes could pick up mins on the PP

What are you guys expecting from him?

Thanks in advance

Timonen-Pronger
Carle-Meszaros

I think those will be the PP pairings.

And I wouldn't be shocked if Meszaros ends up being the D with the most goals, he has a cannon.

Yea thats how I see it. Timonen looked very good and fast his first preseason game he played. I know its just a preseason game, but he looked like the young Timonen. I think he should still play on the first unit, setting up Pronger like he ussually does.

We probably won't see it again because we have 5 dman who can play the point, but Timonen-Richards was so damn entertaining at the points. It was ridiculous!

Thought this quote was interesting:

Quote:
"I've been in a situation where everything has looked good on the outside, but in reality the other goalie has talked **** about me behind my back every time it's possible."
- Ex-Flyer G Antero Niittymäki on the battle for starting job.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to Esche.
Euroflyers posted it.

Claude Giroux

Hey Flyers fans.

What are your realistic expectations for Giroux for this upcoming season? How much more is he gonna improve? And how many points do you see him getting?

He's a wild card, I think you can realistically peg him for anywhere between 45-75 points. His talent is undeniable but he lacks consistency (as most young players do) and I think he is going to have to attack the net with his stick handling or his shot more like he did in the playoffs.

Yeah, if there is one thing I could do it would be to hold him down and scream in his face "MOTHER OF GOD JUST SHOOT THE GOD DAMN PUCK" and then just leave.

It's funny because apparently when he was younger his dad would get on his case all the time because he shot too much rather than passing, apparently he took it to the other extreme lol. But when you're as talented a passer as he is, you need to keep doing it. Just look at his pass to Prongs in the waning seconds of the CHI/PHI game in the regular season. That was beautiful.

If he can carry over the momentum he had from last year's playoffs, 60+ pts is not unrealistic for Claude. Laviolette seems inclined to give him every chance at success and he could land himself a spot in the top-6 instead of centering the 3rd line. This could be a breakout year for him.

well.. he DID get us into the playoffs on that beautiful shootout goal.

i'd say Roo can top 65 points this season depending on how he is used, which lines, etc. If he plays with Zherdev those numbers could sky rocket.

It all depends on where and how much Giroux plays. If Claude plays center and gets a lot of PP time, he'll probably be around the 60-70 point mark. If he plays wing and his PP time is less than Briere, Richards, Carter, and Zherdev he'll probably be around 50 points.

I think it depends largely on his linemates. If he gets to play with Zherdev and JVR I expect large numbers. If he gets Guerin, Powe Carcillo, Nodl, or Testuide I expect much like last years numbers.
