I would argue, no in this case. And he's a defenceman so you don't need to teach him how to play defense, this he knows. Avtsin needs to learn the NA game, and he needs to learn how to play in Martin's defensive setup.

He'll get there, I just hope that the coaching staff is communicating this with him

Wasn't finished obviously, but you get the idea.
Nice work!

I've added it to the OP to help colour it up a little bit.

Thanks Smoopok, that does make a lot of sense. I'm just glad to hear that it's not an injury problem. It's too bad though, I was really looking forward to seeing him play.

Not the end of the world....but if it's time for experience, how about using Eller at the center position at one point. We HAVE to know what Pouliot will give us and if Pouliot can't give us anyting on the first 2 lines, I don't want him on my team. Eller could be useful on all 4 lines.

We have to use Pouliot on the first 2 lines. That Desharnais line could still be fine tonight, but as much as I like him, Martin is using a guy we NEED to know what he can do in the first 2 lines with a guy who's not going to be in the starting lineup.....

lol @ Eller now playing with Plek and Cammy. Seems to me JM is trying hard to either get him a spot on the top 6, give himself an out in case Pouliot or AK fail, or simply sending a message to them two. Personally, I can't wait to see him at center on the 3rd line and find out who his wingers will be. Of course, that is if he doesn't steal a spot on the top 6.

I seem to be the only one who doesn't care if Price gives up a couple of softies. Especially with Picard-Subban and Spacek-Weber in front of him. He'll have many more games before being judged by JM and co. Of course, some fans will be booing but they will now or later anyway; It's clear that some are only waiting for that opportunity. Price will not be outstanding in 60-65 games.

I would prefer:

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Eller
Pouliot - Desharnais - Lapierre
Pyatt - Engqvist -White
Moen - Maxwell - Dumont

Picard - Subban
Spacek - Gorges
Gill - Weber

Price

Thank Goodness they juggled the lineup to give Price a (hopefully) better team to play behind.

Yep - interesting forward lineup. The battle of the bottom 6, plus one number 1 line.

Shake off the last two games, Price, and show us what you can do. Wear a Team Canada sweater underneath if that's what it takes...

Ellerby and Gudby are rookies...
