Buffalo-LA

To Buffalo:
Thomas Hickey
5th Round Pick

To LA:
Chris Butler/Andrej Sekera
Drew Stafford

Buffalo gets a good young puck moving defensemen and a capable powerplay quarterback and a pick. LA gets a good young #4/5 defensemen and a good winger who could use a change of scenery.

No Thanks.

Stafford might be in need of a change of scenery, or he may just be an average NHL'er.
Kings have young guns that may be up sooner than later that in all likelyhood will be as good.

Hickey will be better than either Butler /or Sekera, and from all accounts is ready to make the jump and be our #5/#6 Dman this season.

Not bad value wise, though I think Buffalo wins this trade, but the Kings just have no reason to do this trade. So PASS.

No. As Puck U said, Hickey is going to be good and neither one of those guys add that significant of an upgrade to give him away.

What do you want Buff fans? We gave you Myers for Tuebert already.

I'd do it for Butler. Not as high on Sekera.

I'd do it. Value is pretty fair. It addresses both team's needs. If the Kings wouldn't do Hickey, I'd be happy with either Loktionov, Teubert, or Voynov.

Stafford isn't really that bad. We just have a lot of other capable wingers that are higher than him or passing him. With Ennis having a good camp and preseason as well as Kassian, Stafford's importance to our team is dropping, making him more expendable and more likely to be the odd man out.

Loktionov reminds me a bit of a young, Russian Roy. I could easily see Loktionov taking the second-line center position as early as next year and wouldn't be surprised to see him with the Kings this year if anyone goes down due to injury.

As much as the fans want to see it, Stafford isn't getting moved anytime soon. It was alarming that people were all over him after the first preseason game, in which he led the team in shots--after Ruff said at the end of last season that he needs to shoot a lot more--and hits, a sign he's using his body. We'll see if he can keep it up, because he's always been an inconsistent player. But I'm willing to hold onto him and I'll gladly take the likely contract year bump in production. He's still our second best RW, offensively.

From a Kings POV, I do it.

Hickey has been way too injury prone. I'm worried about his long term durability in the NHL. His upside is high... but I have serious doubts that he'll be able to reach and/or sustain a high level of play.

Seems like the type of deal the Sabres would do if they want to do a mini rebuild.

Nice offer but I'd rather keep Hickey for a season or 2.. Might add up to his value.

Well after todays roster cuts, kinda looks like Hickey will be on the Kings Roster instead of the AHL this season, management is HIGH on this kid still and he'd have to completely bust for Lombardi and Hextal to give up on him.

Hickey is a great player. His value is a bit low at the moment due to his injuries, but if I'm management, I don't trade the kid. Every time he does play, he wows...he just needs to get past the injury bug.

I'm probably too high on Stafford but I'd do it. I like Hickey but you get a very talented forward with tons of upside and has proven to be a solid NHLer along with another stable dman. I like it.

I don't see the interest in Stafford. Every team has a player like him.

After the cuts from today, it's very likely Hickey makes the team this season.

Pass from LA.
