With Mueller hurt, Colorado is suddenly very thin at LW. There's been some interesting discussions with NJ fans about a trade there -- Langenbrunner + Salvador for Cumiskey seemed to be the consensus on a good trade for both sides -- but I question that Colorado's ownership will be willing to add ~5m in salary for the next year alone without any assurance of making the playoffs.

With that in mind, I'd like to re-visit the Cogliano rumors from earlier in the summer. Based on the current thread about Edmonton desiring young PMD prospects, what about Joel Chouinard (7.0C http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/joel_chouinard ) for Cogliano?

Chouinard has looked quite good since he was drafted, but seems caught in a numbers game. Cogliano seems to be an even better fit for Colorado now than earlier in the year when Mueller was still looking healthy.

No thanks, no need to trade an established 23 year old center with two 18 goal seasons for a boom bust prospect. If we are getting a defenseman prospect from the Avs it has to be one of Shattenkirk or Elliot.

Fair enough, he has decent stats thus far in his NHL career as a 23 year old and is pretty much a lock as a NHL player until he retires barring injuries of course. At worst he's a checker, still tons of upside on him.

I know that Oilerfans probably are somewhat high on the Omark fumes from last night, but you probably want Cogliano on a third line over Omark. A year in the AHL might do wonders for Omarks defensive game. It is not nearly good enough for the NHL, neither effort or ability.

I completely agree with you, a year in the AHL for Omark, MPS and Eberle would be the best for their development.

This is a consensus on the Oilers board.. we know Omark is highly skilled but needs to work on the little things in the AHL. There's no where on the roster for him anyways.

What does that prove? Sure he may be NHL-ready but our rebuilding team is in no rush to get him on the team right away. A year in the AHL would be best, learn the NA ice surface a bit better and if he is really playing well call him up at season's end.

Because the SEL is a better league than the AHL anyways.. You know the NHL also has the same size ice as the AHL? Paajarvi is just as capable learning the game on North American sized ice in the NHL as he is in the AHL.

I don't think Paajarvi would be getting rushed, he's shown he's pretty damn good in the pre-season and deserving of a roster spot.. if Paajarvi starts to slouch during the regular season that's when you send him down.
