I don't think the Leafs are really all that interested in 2nd liners either(not being insulting, it's just my understanding that that's what he projects to be) We have 2nd liners on our team, and in our prospect pool. We need 1st liners.

If we're moving prospects, it's not going to be lateral moves, they're going to be moved as part of a package that returns a young top liner. That's where the Leafs needs are.

Nyquist will be more than a 2nd liner. But because we are so deep he will eventually play their, like Zetterberg Franzen and Filppula do now.

They both are very good players, the difference being Gun is a now a established d-man who is going to have a great career for a long time, whereas NYQ still a prospect with huge upside

Nyquist for Mikus is a terrible deal for Detroit.. We have plenty of D prospects who are better than Mikus.. Trading one of our best forward prospects for him makes no sense.

well it depends on if youre looking to be a contender in the next couple years or if youre looking to build your organization up from the cellar

Why would Detroit do this? Aging D?

Stuart and Kronwall will be playing for atleast 5 more years

Ericsson and Kindl is NHL ready

We have Tollefsen whos proven physical D-man

Rafalski will probably playa couple of years more.

Brendan Smith, Logan Pyett and Max Nicastro are prgressing nicely.

That trade proposal was a joke right?

We all know how good Gunnarsson is now, but how has Mikus looked thus far?

look at the date, and as I had said, at that point I hadn't seen Gunnarsson play much so I had nothing to base it on

Neither team does this... teams generally like their own prospects more than someone else's, that's why they draft them. Mikus has done nothing to disappoint the Leafs, and I'd assume that holds true with Nyquist and the Wings.

there aren't alot of young top liners out there and the one's that do exist aren't getting traded
