Roenick blasts Thrashers for Byfuglien’s move to defense

Quote:
ďThat might be the stupidest thing Iíve ever heard in my life. Dustin Byfuglien as a defenseman. I would love to play against Dustin Byfuglien as a defenseman. I would turn him inside out, left, right and center every single time. This kid, he made his living in front of the net scoring goals during the playoffs for the Chicago Blackhawks. Why on earth would you put him back as a defenseman? This kid is strong, heís powerful, heís a great skater. Put him in front of the net as a forward. Thatís where you want him to do all his damage. Playing him as a defenseman? Maybe thatís why the Thrashers are 0-3 in preseason. Maybe thatís why nobody comes to watch their games. Itís crazy. What are they thinking? They already have a GM that doesnít know the game whatsoever. But, hey, thatís just my opinion. Like me or hate me if you donít [agree]. Iím not a big fan of Atlanta for a lot of reasons but the fact that theyíre going to play Dustin Byfuglien [as a defenseman], my goodness gracious.Ē

Sooooo....you're saying you disagree with the move?

Sure JR, let's talk smack about the 275 pound defenseman who has already injured 2 players in 2 games.

Last I remember this clown was crying because a team he played for a decad ago won the Cup.

Is it really possible to tear into the Thrashers like that and not come across as a complete..um, "anal opening", or ..perhaps a "female hygiene product"?

Roenick is famous for holding grudges...has Dudley ever done anything to him, real or perceived?

He's right somewhat. I'm not to happy about him playing defense. But if it fails he better be moved to forward immediately.

Roenick is a loser. I'd rather hear opinions from Don Cherry.

Aha. I knew it had to be something personal. According to someone on the official board, Don Waddell did not put Roenick on the 2006 Olympic team.

see..i think it would be a mistake to NOT try Buff at D at this point in time...is ATL raising the CUP this year? unlikely, i think we all expect to finish between 7-11 this year. so get the tryout out of the way NOW and if it doesnt work, then going forward we know what we have as far as the 'core' goes for the near future, when our expectations will then become even higher as the kids grow.

The best of JR's quotes is this:

"I would turn him inside out, left, right and center every single time."

JR hasn't been able to turn anyone inside out, left, right, or otherwise in years. Has he watched footage of his last few seasons in the league?

What a moron.

This was me the day after he complained he couldn't produce in LA because the equipment manager couldn't get his skate blade right.

Roenick is a ******. I met him in person and it was confirmed.

I think several people are trying to be the "American Don Cherry", including Millbury and Roenick

"WELL THEY'RE TRYING A PLAYER OUT AT A POSITION IN TRAINING CAMP AND PRESEASON? ****ING ********, NOT ON MY WATCH ALBD:FSFD:FS#DFsd;d;fsdfs;d"

I've never disliked JR, but he always struck me as a short-fused creepy little dude.

I really wish Roenick would go away. All I ever see from him are statements bashing teams. This guy will never be able to find any kind of management job in the NHL he's bashed so many teams in his life I can't see who would ever even think about bringing him on board.

Byfuglien is a dirty player, I liked him until he tripped Samsonov like that, a complete dirty move, he wasn't even going for the puck, in the pre-season nonetheless, shouldn't count as an "injury" as btn suggested, just a dirty move

I don't think he's trying to get into management. It seems more like he wants to be a TV personality.

The only thing Roenick has turned inside out, left, right and center in the past few seasons is his rickety old knees, and possibly some nasty old skeezer he picked up at a bar...

Last time I checked, his position was Healthy Scratch, not center..... Why would nobody offer you another contract, JR? Maybe it's because you suck more than a Dyson Outlet store.

I used to be a big JR fan. He's one half of the reason I always wore #27 when I played hockey. Now he's some bitter old *****.

But he's right.

We have plenty of defensemen.

I'd like to trade one of them for a sniper-type scorer. Maybe someone like Morin.

Can we trade a d-man for Morin?

They both race for the puck, Samsonov caught up in Buff's stick, fell forward and hit his face into the board.

We are going to be a "dirty" team, better get used to it. No more creampuff hockey.
