Paul Holmgren's quote on Chris Pronger: “He’s coming along ok, probably not as fast as he would like or we would like, but we’re really in no rush. We’re not pushing that at all. We still have a little over a week before we start to get going for real and I still believe Chris will be ready to start the season.”
Paul Holmgren's quote on Johan Backlund: “He’s been cleared to do everything now. Today was good day for him. He did everything we asked him to do today and has no issues right now. The plan is to try and get him in a game here coming up towards the end of the week and see how he does.”

2009-10:
November 25, 2009 -- Scott Hartnell scored with 5:27 left and Brian Boucher made 28 saves in a 2-1 win at NY. It was Philly's 11th straight win in this series. Mike Richards tied the game in the final minute of the second period on the Flyers' lone man-advantage of the game. The Flyers, outshot 29-28 in the game, held an 11-1 shots advantage in the third period. Martin Biron made 26 saves in the loss. Ian Laperriere fought Brendan Witt ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRpESq2B6l8 ) and Nate Thompson ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WYFC36G-u8 ).
December 8, 2009 -- Mike Richards scored twice in the opening period and the Flyers recorded three PPGs in a 6-2 home win. Richards (2-1-3) scored a PPG and a SHG in the first period and led seven Flyers with multiple-point games. For the third time in NHL history, four players scored twice in an eight-goal game; the Flyers' Richards, Jeff Carter and Claude Giroux and NY's John Tavares all scored two goals. Philly ended a 5-game losing streak (1-8-0 in the last nine) and snapped an 0-for-19 skid on the PP by going 3-for-5. Brian Boucher made 22 saves. Peter Laviolette won for the first time in his third game as Flyers' coach. Martin Biron stopped 31 shots in the loss. It was the Flyers' 12th straight win in this series, the fourth time they have reached that number against one opponent.
December 27, 2009 -- Jeff Carter (1-1-2), Danny Briere (1-1-2) and Scott Hartnell (0-2-2) had all six points in Philly's 2-1 road win. Michael Leighton made 28 saves. Carter scored the GWG late in the second period. Briere had a potential goal waved off after replay determined it was directed off his skate. Martin Biron made 28 saves for NY. It was the Flyers' 13th straight win in this series.
January 30, 2010 -- Ray Emery made 31 saves and Danny Briere and Scott Hartnell each scored in a 2-1 home win. The Flyers won for the 14th straight time in this series, tying a team record for consecutive wins against one opponent.
March 9, 2010 -- The Flyers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to set a team-record for consecutive wins against one opponent (15) with a 3-2 home win. The Flyers entered the third period trailing 2-1 with a 1-17-0 season-record when trailing after two periods. There were five minors called in the game, four to NY including three in the third period which led to both Flyers' goals. Claude Giroux (1-1-2) had points on both third period goals which included using his bare hand to grab a pass, drop the puck onto his stick and then making a sweet feed to Simon Gagne for the GWG with 6:06 to play. Michael Leighton made 23 saves. Dwayne Roloson stopped 32 shots. Three Flyers were stitched in the game but returned: JVR (25, below his chin), Carcillo (20, below his left knee) and Krajicek (eight, above his right eyelid). April 1, 2010 -- NY snapped a 15-game losing streak in this series, a Flyers' team-record, with a 6-4 home win. Blake Comeau (2-0-2) scored the first two goals of the game and NY upped the lead to 3-0 by the 7:45 mark. The Islanders led by three or more goals the rest of the game. Martin Biron made 31 saves for the win. Brian Boucher (19 saves, 24 shots) was replaced by Jeremy Duchesne who became the Flyers' fifth goalie to play during the regular season.
If we don't win this then wow. I mean, just look at the Islanders lineup. I'm surprised they even met the minimum number of veteran players with that lineup.
^ It's likely (not guaranteed) Bobrovsky will start but keep in mind that Backlund is scheduled to play before the end of the preseason. Unlikely Boucher starts two consecutive nights.
Looking forward to seeing Nino get some NHL playing time. Of course, I hope he doesn't do a damn thing (not just because it's against the Flyers, but also so they'll maybe send him back to Portland).

And now I find out Nino will be with the other Isles squad that'll be in Sask. Oh well.
We should ice our full roster for this game, just because.
FINAL SCORE, 19 - 1, Flyers. The goal against came after Bob left the net and stole the puck from Zherdev, who was having a figure skating competition with Giroux at center ice.
