Hope to see strong games from Tank and Sauer tonight.

Get Christensen some confidence too, hopefully.

Sean Avery - Derek Stepan - Ruslan Fedotenko

That line peaks my interest.

Sure I do. But were talking Erik Christensen here. He suks. And we are not better if he's our 1c.

Gives you the impression that Stepan is being considered for a role other than Gaborik center.

This.

Everyone is under the impression that he's going to be Gabby's center...
maybe they want to ease him into a less pressured and intense roll,
and gradually work him into the #1 center position.

Not so sure. Fro prospal and gaby together would be interesting.

He's smart. Good passer. Skates well. Gaby doesn't need any more than that.

He could do a nice job until step is ready by Dec.

Interesting note by Andy Gross: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/r...ineup_at_last/

Finally, an observation and an apology:

Observation - Derek Stepan will not start the season centering the top line. Tortorella, I believe, remembers how uncomfortable Anisimov was last season when thrust into a top-line role.

Apology - I meant to ask about Anisimov getting a chance to center Gaborik and Frolov. But I didn’t. I’m sorry. I will. I promise.

I actually like the idea of that line. Each player plays a different roll. That should actually roll together pretty nicely.

As for his skating, I don't think he skates all that great. No better than Callahan at this point in his career. Not that bad, not that great. He is smart, though. I've always liked that about Prospal, since his days in Tampa. He is a smart hockey player. Should have no problem playing on the top line with Gaborik and Frolov, but I'm going to go out and say this is the last year he should be playing a Top 6 roll. He's definitely not a 1st line player right now. 2nd line. A decent 2nd line player. But anything is better than Erik Christensen.

It's not that. I knew it wasn't 1st line or AHL for him. It just seems interesting, not sure why. I'm just very curious how that line is going to perform, I feel like it could go either way. That could end up being a great line, or a really bad line.

You guys have to remember that it was really the addition of Christensen to the Gaborik line that got him going again last year.

Prospal slowed way down, and couldnt really keep up with the pace of play on the line. Dubi was on-and-off, seemed like he clicked at times, and was on a completely different page at others.

early season. fresh legs. prospal would be fine. i agree though, last year he slowed due to over use. were slightly deeper this year and i think starting the season with that veteran first line makes a ton of sense.

as a stakeholder for the 1c until derek is ready mid season. i like it.

i am not on board with erik christensen centering gaborik and frolov. to me, that wont work.

ive never been a big ec guy and so far i havent seen anything from him to change my mind.

White should be going to hartford soon. He hasn't done anything impressive. Boyle and Kennedy have outplayed him imo. I dont see a reason to keep a 4th line center who has an over 2 million dollar cap hit.
kennedy is gonna be a solid player for the rangers now and in their future. he is only 24. i think he can be a 20 goal 40-45 pt player in the future.

Red Wings fan coming in peace, game isn't being shown in Michigan... are there any non-p2p rangers streams?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found one!

Sam saying Gilroy, Sauer, and Vtank are fighting for a job.

McD win a spot that means?

just a thought..... that gomez deal Sather did was ridiculous.

- dump gomez & his salary
- acquire higgins (a bust who we eventually packaged with kotalik to dump his salary)

- get Vtank
- get McDonagh

a good deal imo

If Valentenko and McD both make the team, then one has to move over to a side they are unfamiliar with. I'm not sure they want to do that to a rookie, but i've been wrong before.

I imagine they didnt mention McD, because he isnt playing.

I like this. It'd probably be the best Top 6 we've had in quite a while. Solid 3rd line checking line. The only thing is, I'm not ready to exclude Gilroy from the Top 6. He deserves another year in my opinion.

The deal was essentially:

Gomez -> Gaborik, Prust, McDonagh, VTank

More important than dumping Kotalik (which was important), Higgins brought us Prust.

Amherst Time Warner finally gets their stuff together and blacks out the game on MSGHD, it's a sad day with no center ice options.

Here I am stuck on a slingbox running at <200kbps...oh my internet

Habs fans can't see the forest for the trees. They still think they won it because Gomez brought in Cammy and Gionta. News flash: Money brought in Cammy and Gionta. Gomez plays 2nd line C over there.

This is what I thought as well.

Really hoping Eminger gets cut. I'd rather have Sauer as a 7th and Eminger in Hartford than lose Sauer for nothing.
