Weiss from Florida is the obvious choice. But they're about to start a full on rebuild and would want a significant piece back. Grachev and a pick maybe?

Phoenix is a usual suspect in any trade talks with the Rangers.

From the other teams...Stephen Weiss? Derrick Brassard? Antoine Vermette? Bueller?

Either of those would be a very good move, imo.

As for Columbus... if they don't have a C that's good enough for Nash, why would they be good enough for Gaborik?

Slats needs to stop trading for guys just to fill a need and trading for guys that no only fill a need but will actually fit in.

LOL

Sauer seems like a probably trading piece. He has to go through waivers and I could definitely see him requesting a trade if he doesn't make the roster. Didn't Maloney draft Sauer?

love rumors, lol

would love Weiss but for what?.

If Florida is open to Grachev, Christiensen at this pt i may do that. Pains me to lose Grachev but Weiss could be dynomite with Frolov and Gaborik

They have Nylander now anyway,haha

Sauer's value just went up (he scored)!

I want Viktor Tikhonov and Brett MacLean.

I would do Sauer+ for a nice, young player any day of the week.

Whats up with them taking Nylander on loan? TSN said they are taking on his contract as well. I wasn't aware you could just "loan" a player to another NHL team. Anyway if they are planning on playing Nylander maybe Weiss is available.

I think Sauer will make the team as the 7th. I only want to give him up if the return is very good.

I would definitely love to see Weiss here but tough to figure out what that price tag would be...if a center is going back, White would be useless to them so Christensen makes sense, and maybe Gilroy, and Grachev?

From my understanding, they're letting him play for the Panthers' AHL affiliate. He's still Caps property, just playing for the Panthers AHL team. The Panthers can't call him up to play for them.

Be careful what you wish for. MacLean is already back in San Antonio and Tikhonov may be headed there too if he doesn't go back to Russia. Both are 3rd year pros and they are essentially in the same rock/hard place scenario as Sauer. Coyotes have 17 forwards still in camp. Turris will probably make the big club but Prucha may be in trouble. Coyotes are actively searching for a stay at home defenseman.

Correct and if the Panthers want him, they could most probably get him for future considerations or a low draft pick.

I must have misunderstood this quote then.

"He's coming here to help our young guys," Panthers assistant general manager Mike Santos told the Democrat and Chronicle. "He's not coming here grumbling. He wants to resurrect his career for one more shot."

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=335673

Edit: I'm saying if thats the case the report should say he is being loaned to Rochester not Florida.

It's just semantics. There is no way under the current CBA that the Caps (or any team) can loan a player to another NHL team and be allowed to play for them. If Florida wants to play him on the Panthers, they'll either have to trade for Nylander's contract or pick him up on waivers. In the mean time, he'll play for Florida's AHL team. If they like what they see they'll trade for him.

I figured the Grachev trade proposals would start popping up if he had a sub-par training camp.

I really like Tikhonov, but admittedly don't know much about MacLean. Just googled his stats, and he did phenomenal in the OHL. 100 points in his draft year. Why the hell wasn't he a first rounder?
