No...because he's not a grinder or a fighter. Shelley is a grinder and a fighter. Guerin can't play that role he doesn't have enough left in the tank to be a scorer either.
SO? Our SO lineup is pretty awesome as it is and I've never heard of Guerin being a shootout specialist before.

I still think that to maximize Giroux's production he needs to be at center, but we'll see. Also it seems like Holmstrom may be able to fight for a spot with Carcillo on the 4th line.
All I have to say is, I HATE Bill Guerin, more than I hate Sidney Crosby, and I loathe the fact he skated with this team over summer, I am livid he was given a tryout and offically played games with a Flyers sweater on, and I swear I will have a stroke if Holmgren hands this joker a contract. Ill repeat, I ****ING HATE Bill Guerin.
I believe that was down to richie's linemates last season. Gagne was never fully fit, carcillo was a trainwreck. Richie in the olympics looks very comfortable as a secondary scorer on his line. He worked very well with Toews and has played well with Rick Nash before. He also plays well on the PP with carter strangely. I have a feeling Giroux is really going to explode this year. He's already developed chemistry playing with Zherdev in preseason
i thought carcillo worked well with richie last year. hes a nice disruptive force that creates opportunities for richie to go the other way. id rather see

hey clown hair, that was last year. Players have bad years do they not? I will bet you he puts up 18+ goals between 38+ points on the rangers or wherever he plays this year while playing solid hokcey. He is better option and player than guerin.
Guerin received on his elbow on Tuesday in New Jersey is infected. He likely will miss tonight's game. Paul Holmgren said, "At some point we've just got to say 'yea or nay' and a) roll the dice and hope that he helps us or; b) not roll the dice and do something else, where it would be one of the young guys. We're not at that point yet." He said that decision on whether to keep Guerin probably will wait until Wednesday's 3 p.m. roster deadline . . .

I also feel that Fedotenko is going to have a very solid year for relatively small contract. He will not score 20 goals but he won’t cost us 20 goals either. I’d say he is due to 15 goals (some of them will be clutch) and 30-35pts.
So far he’s been very solid in NY, he looks a lot better then Guerin. Looks like he deserves a contract. My 5 cents.

Feds is the only NHL player I have ever seen that tripped himself with his own stick not once... not twice... but three times.
Fedotenko at least gets in on the forecheck and finishes his checks. Guerin is too slow and lazy to even do little things like that.
Feds is also younger. I can't explain last year. He fell off the face of the earth offensively. The year before he was very good. He scored 16G 23A 39 Points in just 65 games in 2008-09 and he had a decent playoff run by adding 7G 7A 14 Points in 24 games. Maybe he won't do that ever again, but he's more worth taking a flier on than Guerin imo. Just the fact that he's younger could mean that he has another good year left in him. I don't think Guerin does at his age.

This is why he had to wear this dirty old man stache for months last season as the last person unable to score in a shootout. The Pens do a shootout contest once a month, and the last guy to score has to grow and wear a mustache until the next month's contest.
I have heard from some Rags fans that he has looked like crap. If he does make the team it will be because of his relationship with Torts.
I was in favor of picking him up earlier in the summer but not from what i have heard now.
Why not go with the youngs guys now. Billy won't be getting picked up anytime soon so maybe pick him up later if the young guys don't pan out like BOS did with Satan last season.

What is Feds making this year? I would not have minded seeing Fedotenko back in O&B. From the sounds of his play it could now be Holmstroms job to lose, I am interested to see what Laviolette does though. I still think if they are going to get the most out of Giroux he needs to be playing center.

He was signed to a try out contract with NYR. He is actually fighting for a job unlike Billy. Feds is in shape (from what I saw) and knows it's between NY and KHL.
