That one was pretty sweet. As were some of Irbe's and I always liked Hrudy's painted helmets as well. Oh and Fuher's one that was moulded to his face.

On a serious note, my favs were Pelle, Parent, Luit and so on. White with that "I'm a serial killer under here" look.

It's definitely an F-15 on the right side of his mask. No doubt about it. air intakes are really different on a Fulcrum.

Not sure about the plane (allegedly its a MiG but don't understand the significance of it) - will have more info on it tomorrow. But the mask was painted in Sweden. The Kremlin on the left side of it (Moscow one) and Kremlin and Kuznetskaya Fortress - both from his home town. He tried to have things that represent his City and Philly on one helmet...

Ok, so back to the fighter plane... Which one is it? an F-12 or a MiG 29??? BOTH!!! The one over Philly - is an American fighter jet, the one over the Russian "side" is a Russian fighter plane... Now, why planes???

Planes = Flyers...

Maybe he just likes planes? Thats def a F-15 you can tell by the double vertical tail fins....and a Mig-29..pretty easy to tell Russia doesn't have a lot of fighters anymore... my obsessions in life:

1.) Hockey
2.) Aircraft
3.) Food

No, straight from the source - planes are signifying the Flyers. Actually, kinda interesting...

Liut and his mask were amazing. The bone-white colour, the skull-like eye sockets, and the prolonged angular mouth area was my favourite. Looking at it now after all these years, it reminds me a bit of the Predator mask.

Okay, just a little.

Ed Snider's sister has been credited with coming up with the nickname Flyers. Not sure how accurate this part is but from what I've heard she seen it on the Radio Flyer wagon and thought it fit the sport and sounded good after Philadelphia.

Yep I am right

Here is photo that was used if you look

Similiar angle so I would reckon that the designer used this while painting it

It appears he put the engines closer together (Probably had to make it smaller and conform to available room of helmet) and cut down on the wing span

But that photo is a dead ringer for his mask

I spent 20 years working fighter jets for the USAF, and still work them down here at Eglin AFB in Northwest Fla as a contractor. We have f-15C-D and E models, F-16, and A-10 warthogs we use for weapons test and evaluation. We will be getting F-35 aircraft next year for training aircrews that will be flying this new jet....I wish the picture on the BOBS mask was a little larger, but the jet is not an F-35, nor F-16, nor do i think its an f-15 due to the angle of the vertical stabs on the back [ tail fins or rudders ].If i could see the intakes i could be certain as to whether its an f-15 eagle or not, the eagle has HUGE intakes, and is a very large fighter jet with a massive radome that houses its large radar package....Best i can tell the picture may be that of an f-18 hornet, which has Vertical stabs that are similar to what i can make out in the picture. I see f-18s all the time, the Blue Angels are based just down the road at Pensacola.Soon as someone can post a better picture, it should be a lot easier to determine.....Its also definetly not the new Eurofighter...

Is it possible that the plane is some sort of slightly altered design because of copyright law? I.e. not a real plane, just similar to some?

Ever do time in Kadena?

Doesn't look like any US based fighter to me. A Russian, putting Russian Fighter Planes over City Hall and the Liberty Bell... nice implication.

So you're saying you were okay with the "Hello Nitty" motif of a couple of years ago?

You hit the nail on the head my friend.

Bobrovsky is really a Russian spy sent to Philadelphia to mesmerize the city with his goaltending prowess so that we are not prepared for their immense strike on city hall!

Do people listen to themselves sometimes?

My take? He doesn't speak English and has no idea what the **** a Flyer is (nor do we, for that matter) and said, "Oh, hey, planes fly, maybe that is a Flyer?".

Oh snap, this is only the beginning....

We're gonna have a real-life Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 situation on our hands.
