I'm far from the grammar police but "minus well" and "anyways" make me cringe.

Agreed. It just makes them sound like an Epic nerd. Any Internet language is annoying to me. Lolz, epic, noob, and !!!!!!!1one are some more.

Also people that go on rants with tons of curses annoy me. They know it's going to get edited but instead I have to count the asterisks to figure out what ******* means.

Sometimes there is just no good, accurate way to describe how frustrating and upset you are about something.

Example: June 30-July 2

Days that will live in infamy.

Ha - pretty sure most of us had posts full of asterisks those few days. I know I did!

Yeah man, it's nothing against you, but it's hilarious how the person calling someone an idiot makes a simple grammatical mistake in the same sentence making them sound like the stupid one. You're exempt because you're on an iPhone .

I really REALLY hate /thread. I post on another forum that actually has a little dancing padlock smilie, and whenever I see that thing I want to strangle somebody.

And really crappy grammar is tiresome. The odd small spelling/punctuation error? Fine. But when I see a post with tons of idiocy and AIM-speak I generally just dismiss the guy (fairly or not) as an idiot and move on.

Face it, ppl. Were all loosers.

I hate that one most. I'm a "looser"? Really? I guess I won't post on philly.com comments anymore, then. (<-- bolded for Kambo)

people who talk about hockey and all they can back up their statements are from stats and gameplay from EA sport's NHL series.

Also: People who discuss players according to their ratings in the game, including NFL players and their stats, why they are better than another player, etc.

ie: Brierre has better puck control than gaborik... (in their mind they are referring to the fact that brierre has better deek control and can LB with the puck easier).

Fantasy League people who root against their own team because of their matchups and who they drafted.

"could of", "wood of", "hafta"

My favorite was an exchange where one person wrote "chef" when he meant "chief".

What a great opportunity to post a screen shot from one of my all-time favourite commercials:

Another one I've seen is "common!" instead of "come on!" As an editor, I've quietly cringed over the apostricides and other grammar things.

Others:
  • Arbitrary profanity rules; I saw the dreaded asterisk knock out the first word of "p-u-s-s-y-footing" used completely appropriately, but "christ" gets a free pass.
  • Enormously wide pics that push the scroll bar off the side of the screen.
  • When nobody acknowledges my hilarious/amazingly insightful/genius posts.
