He's on the plane to Europe. Rumor is the Sharks are close to signing him. Beyond that, we don't know.
would kind of be funny, that just when the plane landed in germany (i know it already did and they are practicing already there), he got a call from his agent to say he signed with another team.

Until the Sharks release him from his PTO, he cannot sign with another team.

Do you remember Brent Sopel 2-3 yrs ago? He had an invitation to camp with the Wings. Couple hours before one of the final pre-season games, he told them he'd signed with the Hawks. At that point, the team was stuck with skating five D for the evening.
The silence is deafening. What is DW thinking? Did Lilja make the trip to Europe with the Sharks?
Doug Wilson is just trying to convince Lilja to instead pay the Sharks 750k to stay with the team. Add 750k to the cap, waive Huskins and you have enough money to get a top-4 dman at the deadline.

We're a few days away from opening night and the Sharks are still carrying three goalies. Greiss didn't play in Deutschland, which seemed like the obvious reason for taking him on the plane ride. If there was a trade in the works, why would they drag him half way around the world?
Now Lilja gets released, while in Sweden of all places.
This has really been a strange off season.

Sharks GM Doug Wilson via text regarding Lilja, ``He was very good but we are healthy and a couple of our young guys really played well.''
