Darcy Hordichuk and Shane O'Brien

With a rocky relationship between Vigneault and O'Brien, #Canucks have been pushing to trade him with still not takers. Waivers may be next

Darcy Hordichuk, Shane O'Brien, Ben Guite highlight some of today's waivers

Also: [AV says meetings and decisions will come tomorrow. He added that the cap will influence decisions.] - http://twitter.com/sportsnetmurph

I'm glad to see Hordichuk go, but I liked O'Brien, Oh well I guess Alberts outplayed him. Plus Alberts is $600,000 cheaper and the Canucks need to do anything they can to get some space.

Some team will definitely pick up O'Brien... Not so sure about Hordichuk

Good luck to them, thanks for your service.

One more thing. Canucks will probably sign Morrison or Schaefer but if not teams will probably be interested since Morrison did phenomenal during pre season.

Isles should welcome O'Brien and waive Gervais

Alberts has outplayed O'Brien so it was the only logical thing to do considering what he was making and what role he was supposed to play on the Canucks.

Alberts! ,,, Really?

Yikes I think that is a sign that O'Brien might no longer be an NHL quality player

O'Brien should be a decent second or third pairing pickup on a rebuilding team. In fact he really played lights out when he first joined the Canucks, fighting everything in sight and establishing a good rapport with his team mates. Great team guy, he just doesn't have the drive to really take the next step. Another change of scenery may be just the kick in the but he needs to change that.

Alberts really brought a better game this pre-season. He was god awful against you guys in the playoffs last year. A new team, horrible play, it was actually quite comical how bad he was. I hope we made the right decision. He clearly outplayed SOB in camp but we all know what a long season it is.

No, it's a sign that Alberts has played really well in all his preseason appearances. While O'Brien has failed to acknowledge that he's competing for a spot on this team.

Alberts actually looks like the defenseman we traded for from Carolina as opposed to the AHLberts who showed up in the playoffs last year.

Beware Hordichuk; he is terrible. O'Brien might be alright for some teams, but if you have a young team with a lot of players who might fall to O'Brien's 'hard party' attitude I might be careful of his dressing room influence. He has also been known to pout if not given enough ice-time, and contrary to popular belief has very little edge to his game outside the oft performed face-wash/bear-hug combo.

For those who are saying keeping Alberts was a terrible idea... It definitely wasn't.

Unfortunately for a new player on a new team they're going to struggle and that's what happened with Alberts.

Fitting into a new system is extremely hard and we saw that but later on in the 2nd round against Chicago we saw an improvement in Alberts and now in pre season the guy looks like his old good self the same great defensemen in Carolina.

The guy had more hits then any Canucks last year and has the best +/- on Carolina, I have no doubt this was a good idea to keep Alberts!

Oh god.. this means we're keeping Rome and Bieksa, doesn't it? Based on last year and not this pre-season, I would of kept O'Brien over both of them.

I know it was a pre-season game last night, but it was the last one of the season, and Rome was our "high minute man" when we had most of our top-four playing.. that seriously has me worried.

I'm not saying Rome is bad, but he's a 6/7 at best..

Not too sure what Obrien has done to justify his stay in Van. What does he bring to the table? Rarely hits anymore, never fights, all he does is pretend to be something he's not. Have fun doing that in Carolina or something.

I could see the Kings picking SOB up if they dont like how Drewiske has played or dont have confidence in him for whatever reason

It was pre-season, everyone was playing. Rome is the 7th guy right now, he won't be the high minute man all year.

I can't stand Obrian...I hope everyone passes and he plays in the ECHL for the rest of his career.

Wow.... really?
the key word is pre-season game
Why risk injury to the Top D in a preseason game, and AV was seeing what Rome has.

O'Brien indeed fights.

He doesn't bring a lot of offense... But he brings a good defensive and is an energy guy.

The only downside... Is he has a "party" attitude... He really really likes to party at clubs which might be a bad influence on rookies... We only got rid of him since Alberts outplayed him and we have a bad cap situation and we can't keep O'Brien as a 7th guy

I believe the 'Canes should pick O'Brien up.

POS and SOB on the same team ... pretty cool.
