FLYERS-SABRES' SERIES HISTORY: Current and Miscellaneous:
The Flyers' W-L-T-OTL regular season record is 71-55-20-4.
The Flyers' W-L-T-OTL regular season home record is 43-19-12-3.
The Flyers' W-L-T-OTL regular season road record is 28-36-8-1.
The Flyers are 25-18 (17-6 at home, 8-12 away) in 43 PO games.
The Flyers are 5-3 in eight PO series, winning in 1975 (4-2), 1978 (4-1), 1995 (4-1), 1997 (4-1) and 2000 (4-1) and losing in 1998 (4-1), 2001 (4-2) and 2006 (4-2)
2009-10:
November 6, 2009 -- Dan Carcillo scored his first two regular season goals since joining the Flyers and finished +3 in the Flyers' 5-2 win at Buffalo. Blair Betts (0-1-1) and Ian Laperriere (0-2-2), Carcillo's line mates, also finished +3. Chris Pronger, who played a game-high 27:17, had two (1-1-2) points including a goal to make it 2-0 in the opening minute of the second period. Ray Emery made 28 saves. Jeff Carter won 11 of 15 faceoffs. Both Buffalo goals came via the PP. The Sabres entered the game 9-3-1. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QasAjsbKHqk
November 14, 2009 -- Ryan Miller made 29 saves and Tyler Ennis, recalled prior to the game, scored his first NHL goal in Buffalo's 3-2 win at Philly. The Sabres scored two PPGs including Thomas Vanek's goal at 3:11 which put Buffalo ahead for the balance of the game. Jeff Carter (1-1-2) scored a SHG in the third period to bring the Flyers to within 3-2.
November 27, 2009 -- Ryan Miller made 31 saves and Tim Connolly (2-2-4) scored two third period goals leading Buffalo to a 4-2 win at Philly on "Black Friday." The Flyers scored twice in the final 34 seconds of the first period to take a 2-1 lead. The game was tied 2-2 after two periods. Ian Laperriere was hit in the face by a slap shot (2:05 mark on this clip -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsJk0RVvPg8 ), received up to 100 stitches then returned wearing a face shield. Patrick Kaleta, who was later suspended two games, received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for boarding Jared Ross from behind midway through the first period ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2SeZnX8gpw ). Dan Carcillo fought Craig Rivet twice within nine minutes in the second period with Carcillo given a 10-minute misconduct penalty after the second fight. Rivet was injured late in regulation after being hit by Arron Asham. Paul Gaustad also was injured in the game after trying to hit Scott Hartnell and missed action until December 18. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsJk0RVvPg8
March 5, 2010 -- Tim Connolly's (1-1-2) goal 2:31 into OT gave Buffalo a 3-2 home win. Adam Mair (1-1-2) tied the game with 5:58 remaining. Ryan Miller made 27 saves. Jeff Carter played in his 277th straight game moving him past Bobby Clarke into third place on the team's all-time list. Michael Leighton made 32 saves. There were only three minor penalties called, two to the Flyers in the third period.
Carcillo should have came back from the break stronger or faster or smarter - or something. All he's shown in preseason is that he's not capable of anything more than the 4th line - which makes him useless because the Flyers have plenty of capable 4th liners like Powe and Nodl. Replacing him with Guerin is just stupid. I'd rather see a young player get a chance like Holmstrom/Maroon/Legein/Testwuide etc.
FORWARDS: Tyler Ennis, Nathan Gerbe, Drew Stafford, Rob Niedermayer, Tim Connolly, Paul Gaustad, Derek Roy, Cody McCormick, Mike Grier, Jason Pominville, Pat Kaleta, Jochen Hecht
DEFENSE: Andrej Sekera, Steve Montador, Chris Butler, Shaone Morrisonn, Jordan Leopold, Steve Montador,
GOALIES: Jhonas Enroth, Ryan Miller
INJURIES: Captain Craig Rivet participated in the morning skate but will not play in tonight's match-up. The defenseman has been unable to play since suffering a throat contusion on September 24.

Up front it looks like Ruff will go with the old reliable line of Thomas Vanek, Derek Roy and Stafford, which has proved very fruitful at times in the past, but all three have also shown stretches of enigmatic play, which forces Ruff to shuffle the lines.
The second line will probably feature Tim Connolly at center with Jason Pominville on the right wing and Tyler Ennis on the left side. All three have playmaking ability while Connolly and Pominville possess rocket shots. Ennis plays a lot bigger than he actually is down low and while this line may lack grit and size, it should make up for it in offensive ability. Pominville has been one of the most consistent players in the league throughout his career and when Connolly is on his game, he makes everybody around him better.
The third line should be a formidable defensive line to check the opponent's top line. Newcomer Rob Niedermayer will play center with Jochen Hecht on the left wing and Mike Grier on the right side. It would surprise me if this line totaled anything more than 20 goals for the entire season, but it should neutralize the top scorers in the Northeast Division and allow the Sabres' skilled players to shine offensively.
I believe Paul Gaustad and Patrick Kaleta will be fixtures on the fourth line with the left side switching between Cody McCormick and Nathan Gerbe. While Gerbe is small in stature he should fit in nicely with his aggressive play across the ice from Kaleta.
On the back end Tyler Myers and Shaone Morrisonn will make a nice top defensive pair. Myers likes to jump up in the play on occasion while Morrisonn seems to be very comfortable staying back on the blue line.
Kaleta healing from neck stiffness? Someone should just go and do the man a favor and chop it off. Pat would no longer feel the neck pains and he'd waste oxygen no more.
Going to the game tonight! Got some glass seats for 40 bucks a pop which isn't bad consider tickets in London were 100+!!! Hopefully Bob gets sometime, I'd love to see him live! Lets go Flyers!
Jeff Carter, who suffered broken bones in both feet late last season, took a shot off his skate in the Friday game and was held out of Saturday's practice for precautionary reasons. Laviolette said Carter is fine but it's not known if he's available for duty tonight when the Flyers (5-1-1) complete their preseason schedule in Buffalo.
Short shots
Briere said he lost about four pounds while battling through a tonsil infection the past week. He said he had to have an abcess drained. ... Bill Guerin practiced for the first time since suffering an elbow cut (resulting in an infection). Laviolette said he will play tonight in Buffalo. + Backup goaltender Johan Backlund, who underwent offseason hip surgery, will see his first action tonight.
It would be nice to see Backlund get some action, although I wonder what he would have to do to take the backup spot from Bob. I think it is Bobs to lose now.

He had two off-season surgeries and didn't start skating until training camp. It's a little unfair to say such a thing.
To Hell with the Eagles. The game should be fun to watch but I can't root for them anymore. Vick is and always will be a dirtbag. I can't imagine what other crap he's done and didn't get busted for. I don't even like dogs - but I sure as heck wouldn't enjoy torturing any living thing. So what if he did his time - he's still a piece of crap in my book.
That said I would still love to see McNabb's "oh shucks!" smile after blowing another game.
He had two off-season surgeries and didn't start skating until training camp. It's a little unfair to say such a thing.
Yeah I forgot about that. But if Carcillo is unable to improve from last season - for whatever reason - then I would part ways with him. I guess it wouldn't be fair to do that to him just yet.
