Great game today for Ryan Bourque. 1 goal in a 5-4 win in SO. He scored the game-tying goal with 35 seconds left in the game. He also scored the game-winning goal in the SO. His teammates on his line were horrible today, Ryan was creating many chances for them but thei couldn't score.
Horak 2-1-3 tonight. Loving this pick more and more.
Not seeing a lot out of McIlrath so far in the box scores - his team is 1-3 and he's 0-0-0 and -5. Of course it's hard to determine how well a defenseman has played based on stats, especially from a small sample size - anyone have any commentary they can post that sheds more light on his play to date?
this will be a difficult time for mcilrath.
hes got a ton of press. hes a marked man. hes got all kinds of pressure he didnt have last season. hes facing all the top lines this year and the press will watch his every move.
Ethan Werek's Kingston team played Christian Thomas' Oshawa Generals team tonight. The Generals won 3-1 with Thomas scoring the first 2 goals for Oshawa and Werek scoring the lone goal for the Fronts. Good game for Ranger prospects.
Good for Stajcer. He's going to nees a very good season in order to get an ELC from the Rangers this summer.
I don't know what it is, but since we got Allaiare to the org., the goalies we have drafted/signed have been horrible, at least IMHO.
I mean, there are many good, solid and modern goaltenders outthere. Like half-big guys who moves well. Like look at Antti Niemi; you can definitely find players in that mold at least if you look.
Instead we have been chasing guys like Chad Johnson or Stajcer who really don't play a complete game, and from what I can tell, don't really have any potential.

To be fair, we really haven't had any goalies with significant upside in Hartford since the lockout aside from Montoya. I don't see what Allaire has to do with Stajcer, really.
That said, I do agree with you. What's with our inability to develop a goalie? We can't even give them credit for Lundqvist. He basically fully developed with Frolunda and came to NY already Vezina caliber.

Agreed, but I mean is it less work to sign a Chad Johnson or get a Stajcer then to just pick someone with real upside?
Miika Wiikman???
There are better goalies available in Europe for free who would jump on a opertunity with the Rangers (and who aren't getting any calls from anyone else). Or just in the AHL I assume...
"He's an opportunist," Kingston coach Doug Gilmour said on the son of former teammate Steve Thomas. "There are certain guys you have to watch closely on the power play, especially a 5-on-3. You can't give guys like that chances.
"On his second goal, our D backed in and (Thomas), with that quick release, put (the puck) in the net before you fort -- he danced around defenceman Nick Quinn and tucked the puck under goaler Michael Zador -- knotted the score with 61 seconds remaining.
I wish we could get some personal scouting reports for McIlrath, because like Staal, stats don't always tell the story. I want him to light up the score sheet (and I think he will) but if he plays great defense I could care less.

I think that Scott Stajcer has solid upside. Not as a superstar, but as a decent starting goalie at the NHL level. He's been on some bad teams, and while he was maddeningly inconsistent last season, he showed flashes of excellent skill. He's a solid prospect.

Agreed. He's the first goalie that we've drafted in I can't even remember how long where I wasn't of the opinion that it was a wasted draft pick.
