well, Backlund looked poor but he is healthy enough to play again anyway. I mean, would you guys enter the season with 3 goalies on the roster? Who's going down...

I was at the game today, and wow just wow! Pretty sad but it was expected when the AHL team plays the Sabres opening day roster.
Backlund played alright as did Bob. Both got next to no support. Oh as for people wondering why Maroon never got a far shot with the Flyers this year.. well he simply can't skate. ECHL skating with decent hands. Watching him and Gurien live is even worst. Billy G is SOOOOO slow!

In his defense, he's a much better skater than Guerin is at this point, and he's a better skater than Bourdon...not that either accomplishment is all that hard.

I didn't see any of the game or read anything, but I'm really hoping it was the Phantoms vs the Sabres. Please tell me I'm right.

More like a mixture of free agents, Phantoms and their ECHL team to me

Testwuide, Holmstorm, Bob and Big Mo played well. Billy G. has got to go.

Being a better skater than Cuerin like you said is not saying much. Testwuide looks like a keeper.

Bob must of played a blinder to only allow 2 on 15.

Something interesting. Why wasn't maroon given a shot. IT better not be because they wanted guerin on the ****ing team.

These guys were even or + tonight

Maroon
Testwuide
Laliberte
Holmstrom
kalinski

Pretty impressive for 15 minutes of ice time each

Phantoms 3 - Sabres 9

It is what it is...

Poor Backlund. I believe this solidifies Bobrovsky as backup/starter until Leighton gets back?

Testwuide looked solid. Holmstrom looked solid as well, but I don't understand why people want him on the team right now.

Maroon, in one game, looked better than either of them have so far this postseason.

Nodl had another solid game without generating anything offensively.

And still I'll take any of those four over Guerin.

I think it needs to be said that Meszaros and Gustafsson were the better two defenders tonight. Even then it wasn't pretty.

The rest was a ****show.

Bourdon was probably the biggest disaster. Bartulis a close second.
whether Carle would have been better or worse is really irrelevent. It doesnt change or has no bearing onhow Mezaraos has played, all preseason.

I don't think there are too many people who want him on the team now. I think that had Betts been unable to go for a month Holmstrom seemed the best guy for that 4th line center role, but since Betts is good to go I can't see Holmstrom making it.

How is Maroon? His head-first crash into the boards looked horrific and it was a relief to see him up under his own power to head off.

Not really sure. There was little mention in any of the post-game articles. There is no scheduled practice today, either.

An update on Betts was issued (left game as a precaution) but he appears fine.

Also, for those who mentioned earlier in the thread about the website. According to Tim P.:

It looked brutal with how his head bent and how fast he was going. I'm just hoping the kid is ok and has no long-term issues from pinched/stretched nerves in his neck and shoulder.

That happened right it front of me.. Jesus was the sound of him hitting the boards loud. Many of us in the first row thought he was out cold. Hopefully he recovers and then proceeds to take power skating lessons!
