ELLER - HALPERN - MOEN

So maybe Eller will not be in the top 6 and not the 3rd line center

Hate that

Nice news, would be good start the season with the teams top 2 dmen even if it only seems to this point that we will just have one to start.

That's why i don't like the aquisition of Halpern and the contract of Darche. They take the spot for White AND it seems that Eller will be playing wing...

I would like those lines:

Boyd-Eller-Moen
White-Halpern-Pyatt

I think Eller is playing wing because if he's going to end up in the top six this year or next it'll have to be on a wing. Might as well get used to it.

Great news. We desperately need at least one of them back right away. O'Byrne can be protected and used, but we're just not going to be competitive with both Markov and Hamr missing for any length of time.

As for Eller, if he does start the season on the 4th line it's not the end of the world, as long as he's playing enough minutes to develop and get used to the league without getting physically destroyed the way Pacioretty has been the last couple of years. Hell send him down if need be. I'm hoping he'll be the third line center by Christmas, whatever role he starts out with.

PG made a dangerous move trading Halak for a guy who's so raw. I like the look of Eller and hope he'll turn into a major asset for the team, but right now it's just not realistic to expect him to be a major contributor. He's just not ready to do that yet.

Thank God. Our D was very weak this preseason without them imo.

Eller might start on the wing as a top 6 if Cammalleri gets suspended. As for Halpern, I suspect that he will see quite a few games standing next to Darche in the press box.

If it's not clear enough that White will be send down....I don't what it will take.

And I agree that it's a bad line for Eller. Perfect bottom 6 would have been

Lapierre-Eller-Moen
Pyatt-Halpern-Boyd

Switch Boyd and Moen depending who's playing better.

I hope that Markov will be able to overcome his surgery, most people are never the same after this sort of thing

Why all the hate for Halpern? He played solid during preseason. He brings a lot of veteran experience to the lineup and can make contributions to the PK. He also has some offensive skills and PP ability.

Maybe he doesn't play every game but he can still be a solid supporting player.

That would be my bottom 6 too. However, like Martin said before, Eller will be used as a winger considering that the team is set at center in the top 6 for years to come. He will take experience and replace Kostitsyn or Pouliot next year (or at some point this season).

Somehow I have a crazy thought about Markov playing center. I wonder if he will be as good as Plekanec, or better.

Honestly, man, don't even bother. People have already made up their mind with Halpern, hes garbage, just a scrub, and they probably haven't even watched him play a real game yet.

Even if Eller is on the 4th line or 3rd line winger, I don't mind. He's a rookie, what's wrong with giving him a few games to adjust to the speed then move him up a line? Besides, it's just practice. I have a preference for him to be 3rd line center, but a few games IMO doesn't change much.

They know he's about 34 years old therefore he must be horrible and worthless. <sarcasm>

I'm looking forward to his contributions. If he can win those faceoffs, mentor the young ones and contribute some offensively then he's worth it. And if he can take some PK time away from Pleks then all the better.

Teams do need a balance of veterans and young players. I like the Habs' balance on defence and offence.

“It’s a good feeling – my knee seems to be doing well. It’s great to be back skating with the rest of the team,” said Markov. “I’m testing out my limits right now, trying to make sure I don’t push too hard too early. Whether I’ll be ready for the season opener is going to have to stay a secret for right now.” A very similar sentiment was echoed by Roman Hamrlik when asked about his own recovery. “I’m feeling better every day, and the pain in my knee has mostly disappeared,” confirmed No.44. “I’ll have to skate some more with the team first though, to know if I’m ready or not.”
