I've gotta say, the amount of little stuff he's noticeably tidied up in the short time since I've been watching him play has been pretty impressive for a guy that doesn't speak much English.

He still likes to hug the post (with one pad vertical and one on the ice) for too long when the puck is behind the goal line and looks like it could get walked out.

Staying on the post too long is the least of my worries with him. Actually, I think it could benefit him. Given his speed, I feel more comfortable with him hugging the post for a little longer and then cutting out once he KNOWS a forward is walking, rather than leaving it too soon only to have him cut back short side.

When you're as fast as he is, it's not that hard to keep coming across from that position. Assuming the guy's in tight, of course; if he's not, then he's really going to have to keep his hands high on those plays, and his upper-net coverage is what concerns me the most in general.

Why have only 1 nickname?

I like Bobocop is a goodie. Bobafett is also a goodie. Bob is too easy. Bobo is a little creepy.

Well, nothing like implying he's a cop for bobo's...

I still don't understand this fanbase's infatuation with giving players nicknames. It seems very unique to the Flyers. As I peruse other forums I rarely see threads dedicated to giving a new player a nickname (especially before he's even played a single regular season NHL game).

High 'n Wide - Cannon - Z
Caveman/Fartsmell - Hobbit - Villadelphia/Forehead
Reemer/JVR - G/Roo - Mustache
Guy with two female first names - Rocket Chin - KaPowe

Elbow - Hot Carle
Chemo - Coby/The Shnauz
Mezz - Old as dirt
Useless

Boosh
Bob

Some of these obviously aren't very flattering, or creative. It's 9:30 in the am and I haven't slept yet.

Guy with two female first names is actually "The Superstar"

and I've never heard Bett's have a nickname other than the generic hockey nickname of Betts+y.

I think Flyers fans were spoiled with the team that had a nickname, The Broad Street Bullies, which sported a roster full of cool nicknames: Moose, The Hound, The Count, The Hammer, Big Bird, etc.

Most nicknames nowadays ("Gags," "Richie," "Carts," etc.) consist of a syllable or two plus either the "ee" sound or an "s" at the end. Not nearly as colorful or imaginative.

I'd play him against the Blues. He will be fine if you split time between him and Boosh

I suppose you could chalk that criticism up to stylistic preferences. I have just seen him sit in that position and watch plays for a bit instead of resetting his feet. I have also seen him go to that position when he had a defense man helping on that post, and the opposing forward had a pass option to the top of the circle. Not being on his feet means he's slower on the wrap to the far post, and he isn't likely to be as square, at the top of his crease and ready for the point shot if the forward chooses that pass option. I didn't watch him in Russia, but I would bet it is something he's worked on since coming over here. Basically he looks like a guy implementing a new tool into his game, there is always a tendency to overuse it, you know?

They should just call Shelley "Chicks", "Girls", "Ladies" or some other plural feminine noun.

Very fair assessment, and it could very well be something he's overthinking and doing too much of. I haven't seen him really get caught on yet yet, though, but I do think the pass option might get him burned a few times before he finds the balance.
