Do you think there is any truth to the Mckenzie Ersberg to Nashville Twitter?
I hope so. I like Lindback as a prospect, but what I saw in the preseason and camp was someone that could get you by, but not someone you'd feel comfortable handing the reins over to, in the event of a disaster. I once felt the same way about Jan Lasak, FWIW.

No, that all took off when Kevin Allen from USA Today tweeted that SOB and Darcy had cleared waivers and Ersberg was put on waivers, then speculated that he would be a good fit in Nashville.
Ersberg went on waivers this morning. He does not clear until tomorrow at 11 AM CST. Even if the Preds were interested in him, there are a slew of teams ahead of us in the waiver order that would have to pass on him first.
I don't think it makes sense with all the goalies we currently have in our system. I think Lindback will be fine, he seemed confident in the preseason, and it's not like he's should be seeing more then 25 games this year anyway.

Which I don't agree with in the slightest unless we have a trade brewing that involves Dekanich.
Personally I think Lindback will be just fine. Ersberg is not a whole lol of improvement if any at all. Lindback is a large very solid goaltender who can shut the door completely at times, which is a good quality for a backup. Perfect along with another huge starter aswell so the team doesn't have to adjust to a new smaller goaltender in net.
I think if Deks is goin to Milwaukee, Jeremy Smith is pretty much a done deal with the Ad's. Will he play in ECHL????
I hope that Pickard gets the head goalie job in Milwaukee, I think he has a huge upside and sitting behind Dekanich would be a waste. He needs the whole season playing at least 40 games for the Ads.
Imagine Lindback out-performs Rinne.... It is pretty awesome that he was just recently drafted, is only 22 years old, is a monster!, and is in his first year playing hockey in North America and is going to be an NHL back-up goalie that could get upwards of 20 games in this season.
Deks and Smith will never be predator goalies.
Time will tell about your last sentence.
Pickard played more than 30 games last seaon for Milwaukee. He was about a .500 goalie. Dekanich played around 50 games, winning about half his starts.
i think he could potentially be an NHL backup...but at the same time, those are easy and cheap to come by. Not worth wasting a pick and the development time when it's just as easy to spend league minimum and bring one in.

Pickard is not looking like a good pick. We'll see how it plays out.
To rub salt in the wound, Tyler Ennis and Jordan Eberle were picked shortly after.

.
just keep in mind goalies usually take time to develop. I don't think at 21 he is near his development completion. If he were 25-26, yeah, then it is time to label him a bust. He probably needs this year and next year of full time play to see where he is really at.
For example look at other young goalies around the league:
How long did Jimmy Howard marinate?
How long has Jonathan Bernier been developing?
Both guys took a while
Now look at Carey Price. Lots of fanfare. Plays at the NHL level, but rushing him has killed him.
I'd rathe rPickard be ready at 25 than to try and rush him

Maybe we should stop taking goalies in the 1st round. Pikard is still young and very well could be our future superstar, but we seem to have better luck with projects late in the draft.

I agree. We need to take some guys with offensive skill. Even when we do take a forward it's usually the "safe" grinder with some skill.
I do think we drafted Pickard a little early. But we only did so because Poile really wanted to draft the two long time friends. Under normal circumstances, Pickard would have probably fell to the late 1st/early 2nd. Don't forget Poile traded down to get him.
Fun fact: the 3rd rounder we gained from trading down turned into Taylor Beck
So yes, we drafted Pickard early, but we also gained Taylor Beck for free...
